It also offers relevant, real-life stories to encourage readers who want - or need - to shed some possessions to make space for more living. Eine sehr inspirierende Lebensgeschichte einer Frau, die Feminismus und Nächstenliebe vorlebt wie wenige andere. Stephanie (Steve) and Derek both put incredible amounts of time, energy and money into seeking the best possible way to give Giles a happy and secure life for the next 35 years. Instead of scrolling through your social media news feed, this is a much better way to spend your spare time in my opinion. It is an amazing read which will take you through the entire range of emotions - from happiness at the success of her original company Freelance Programmers through to the ultimate sadness of losing her only child.

If you like Peter Walsh's TV shows and/or have emotional issues with mom's old china cabinet, a broken stapler from 1977, or your collection of movie tickets stubs, then check this book out. I do feel confident after reading this to throw out some ‘treasures’ I have that have very negative memories attached to them. Some of the objects in our homes might feel like intruders because they’re so heavily marked by their previous owners. The time you spend moving, arranging, cleaning, and fixing stuff could be better allotted to building loving relationships and having meaningful experiences. I cannot say enough good things about Peter Walsh, and his ability to change my thinking - seriously shifting my brain to realize I do not need all this STUFF.Various materials, bought at different times, on trips when I had forgotten to pack them or we got a sudden cold snap.

My sister and I kept only our mother's hairbrush, rosary beads, photos, and notes she had jotted down about her family to jog her memory. Wouldn’t it be insulting to throw away granddad’s collection of commemorative beer cans that he spent years collecting? After almost 30 years in the same house, my parents are moving across country and Peter Walsh is the reason I still have my sanity. My grievance with the last Peter Walsh book I read was that he just said to throw things away, whereas here he goes into a little more detail in regards to steps to take before reaching that point. Whether you are selling your family home, blending households into a new home, or cleaning out your aging parents' home, sorting through a lifetime's worth of accumulated possessions can be a daunting and stressful experience. I understand that the latter part of the book was supposed to be tailored for what type of downsizing you were working on, but there was so much repetition that it wasn't worth reading it all. As her freelance computer company became more successful she committed to giving away more and more of the profits and especially to causes that would enable to others to make more of their lives.
