Description

A new set of plot spoilers for Season 3 have been released into the wild via the medium of an official companion book to the show, Stranger Things: Worlds Turned Upside Down. Mike and Nancy’s mother, Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) is especially taken by Billy in his swim shorts.

The Heathersallusion is confirmed when they break into Heather’s home and find chemicals on her counter. Our heroes note no one could drink these and live… no one human. The first Heather is killed in the Winona Ryder film by drinking chemicals Winona passes off as hangover medicine. She then begins choking and dies… but you know, in a funny way! Trees moving in the distance that only the little girl mentions feels like a broad reference to the Jurassic Park movies, and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, in particular.

Murray Bauman crawling under the enemy as Hopper seals him into his vent looks a lot like Lance Henriksen’s Bishop in Aliensbeing sent on a mission via sliding through a pipe.

That shopping montage set to Madonna’s “Material Girl” is fun, but again, there’s something vaguely Stranger Things-y about Nile Rodgers’ production and the synths on that song. The Russians’ lair beneath the mall looks straight out of one of Ken Adam’s many bad guy layers from Bond movies with Russian villains, most evocatively You Only Live Twice(1967) and Moonraker(1979) with its bad guy shuttle bus service (although they weren’t Russian in those). Storyline

The first full trailer was released on March 20. The trailer opens with the gang surprising Dustin to welcome him home from summer camp (which doesn’t end well…) It’s summer in Hawkins and the gang are growing up but, from the looks of it, there will be plenty of action, and some whole new baddies. Wondering when Season 3 of Stranger Things is coming out? Netflix have now confirmed that Stranger Things 3 will debut on July 4. Just after midnight on January 1, the streaming service unveiled a brand new poster announcing the premiere date. Ice cream chain Baskin-Robbins started offering Stranger Things-inspired menu items in the months prior to the season's release, and at the launch of the third season, several Baskin-Robbins stores across the United States and Canada [81] were made up into the fictional "Scoops Ahoy!" ice cream parlor in the show for about two weeks. [82] Dustin and Suzie perform a rousing rendition of Limahl’s “Never Ending Story” from the movie of the same name, a 1984 fantasy classic. The Shadow Monster, aka The Mind Flayer, from Season 2 is definitely returning. In the book, author Gina McIntyre reveals how much of a threat the Mind Flayer will be in the series’ future: “The Mind Flayer hasn’t lost interest in Hawkins either…The tentacled creature continues to loom near Hawkins inside the Upside Down, and its malevolent influence isn’t absent from the new season.”Eleven, who had just then reconciled with Mike, uses her powers to incapacitate the Tom/Bruce Mind Flayer, forcing it to flee to the mill. In the Russian lab beneath Starcourt, Steve and Robin are captured, drugged, and interrogated, but Dustin and Erica manage to rescue them. With Murray translating, Hopper and Joyce hold Alexei hostage, forcing him to reveal that the Russians are attempting to access the Upside Down and that they are opening a portal beneath Starcourt. Hopper calls Owens to warn the U.S. Government of the threat, but Joyce insists they return to Hawkins immediately, fearing that their kids may be involved. Grigori corners Kline at Hawkins' Independence Day fair, demanding he step up efforts to find Hopper. Mike argues with Max about relying on Eleven’s powers and inadvertently admits his love for Eleven. To find the Mind Flayer, Eleven uses her powers in an attempt to psychically communicate with Billy, learning of his traumatic childhood and finding the Mind Flayer at the mill. Billy senses Eleven's presence, giving the Mind Flayer access to her location, and reveals that the Mind Flayer plans to kill her to avenge her closing the gate. The Flayed converge on the mill, dissolving into an organic mass and merging with the Mind Flayer. The exploding rats in the abandoned mill feels like a riff on “Graveyard Shift,” Stephen King’s 1970 short story about mutating rats in a forgotten sub-basement waiting to devour poor bastards. Stranger Things Season 3 Episode 2: The Mall Rats On Reddit, one fan even sleuthed the morse code clue from the book and made a link to a project called Acoustic Kitty. It was a spy program set up by the CIA to spy on Kremlin and Soviet embassies using cats (yes, really). Could the toy cat in the image be some sort of spying device? Could Eleven be the Silver Cat? There’s a Taco Bell “coming soon” to the Starcourt Mall. Sure, this is some handy product placement, but also, there was a time when Taco Bells were not quite as ubiquitous as they are today.
