I'm a big fan of Ellie Taylor - I think she's hilarious, and as a fellow Essex girl I can relate to her a lot of her anecdotes. Undoubtably, one of the best things about experiencing this game is seeing how the relationship between protagonists Joel and Ellie develops over the course of four distinct seasons. Her thoughts on motherhood are especially honest and she lays bare how hard it is but also how rewarding she has found it. Joel might seem a bit annoyed but deep down we know he cracked a smile because the wordplay is so seamless.

Having trained at some of her country’s finest pâtisserie schools and having worked at 5* establishments, Nicoletta has a wealth of experience under her belt - which she shares with her close friend and teammate Georgina. He was part of the team at London’s Le Gavroche when it was first awarded its coveted three Michelin stars, and has travelled kitchens around the world from Japan, France and South Africa, as well as winning multiple medals in coveted pâtisserie competitions. Unfortunately though, I think I went into the book expecting more of an argument exploring both sides of the choice to have children and this wasn't really the case; if you go into the book wanting or not wanting children, I feel it won't do a drastic amount to change your perspective either way.This one is concise, simple and really quickly gives you that warm feeling of figuring out a punchline. The postal system and most uses for envelopes might be entirely gone in this world but that’s no reason for them to stop being used to tell hilarious jokes. Imagine not having showered for probably weeks, by the look of Joel’s clothing, being covered in blood after fighting dozens of violent hunters and then being told a joke about being clean?

Ellie agrees with the philosophy of William Wendt who said that his art becomes an "adoration sign devoted to the Trinity. I am a very slow reader (and listener) but I just couldn’t stop listening to it and finished the book in 4 days (it hasn’t happened since I was in secondary school). Thinking and speaking in such similar cadence made this such a perfect read, everything made so much sense in my brain because it was explained just as I too would explain it.
