My personal favorite character though is the mother. She is loyal and cares about her daughter as much as her husband. From the very beginning her trust in her husband is shown to be pretty high. She can think on her toes, but the author does not indulge in any superhuman feats - she is the same as her husband - someone who trusts her spouse, wants to protect her kid, and will do everything in her power to keep her family safe. The daughter is yet another great character - not because she is particualrly virtuous, though you can't really say she is a bad person in anyway, but because the story doesn't try to adjust her to the plot. It doesn't take her long to realize what her parents are doing for her and she reacts in kind. The rest of the cast is pretty fantastic too but its getting too long. The characters along with the plot are the strong points on this manga.

[15] Volumes [ edit ] No. The animation's...not great, but the plot is interesting and keeps me on the edge of my seat because of how close the main characters are to getting outed. Chapman, Paul (June 19, 2022). "Crime Suspense Manga My Home Hero Gets TV Anime Adaptation". Crunchyroll. Archived from the original on March 24, 2023 . Retrieved June 20, 2022. A normal salaryman, Tetsuo Tosu, discovers that his adult daughter Reika is being physically and emotionally abused by her new boyfriend, a young man named Nobuto. Soon after discovering that Nobuto has a history of murdering other girls that he has dated in the past and is currently trying to get money from Reika's grandparents before planning to dispose of her as well, Tetsuo murders Nobuto. He then resolves to commit "the perfect crime" and hides the body with the help of his wife, Kasen. However, Nobuto was the only son of Yoshitatsu Matori, who runs a powerful yakuza branch in the city. While Tetsuo wishes to protect his family, he must now deal with Matori's men as they threaten his family to find out what happened to Nobuto. Reika. Typical adolescent doing typical adolescent things. She is in the dark about what her parents are doing. So, I recently presented my thesis for my master’s degree, and against my better judgment, you guessed it, it was about anime, history, retrospective etc. Now, I do not mention this to say that my opinion matters, nor to gain credibility and say that I am right about what I am saying, but none the less having read almost every word that has ever been written in English about anime that even has the slightest academic value, really widens one’s horizons and perspective about the phenomenon. Also, whether you agree with my opinion or not, whether I am bashing or complementing a show, I’m always making a case, I am using reasoning. I am also at a point in my life that I have the knowledge, experience and self awareness, to be able to state that something is good, is of a certain quality but even so I do not like it or that it is bad, it is trash but even so I like it anyway. That sounds really weird and contradictory, I know, alas that is what some people have to go through based on what they chose to do in life, for the vast majority of people what they like is good and what they don’t like is bad, simple as that. Anyway, where am I going with this, as additional research for my paper, I tried, keyword here is TRIED, to watch almost every seasonal anime for the last couple of seasons. Cause I had to make a case for some of my closing remarks about the current state of the anime industry. More or less what I said is that even though the industry is probably at its highest point in terms of popularity and finally it seems that it has solved the oldest and biggest problem that has been plaguing it since its inception, which has always has been for anime to be profitable, unfortunately it is at its lowest point in terms content, in terms of creativity, originality and almost every other quality that isn’t about the audiovisual improvements technology offers.

"My Home Hero Anime's 1st Teaser Reveals Cast, Staff, April 2023 Premiere". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on September 30, 2022 . Retrieved September 29, 2022.It manages to build constant tension, not giving you rest and not letting you to ever get bored, as our protagonist (Tetsuo) is constantly in the verge of being caught, and even if, up until now, he has managed every time to not let his murder be discovered by the yakuza or police, it always is in a very realistic way and he can never get completely rid on suspicion over him. This is also another plus for Asshole Victim: Nobuto gets his head bashed in with a heavy rice cooker, but considering how he intended on killing Reika and admitting to disposing of at least two other women, he had it coming. It's also Deconstructed as well, as no matter how much of a horrible human being he was, Nobuto was still somebody's son, and the manga repeatedly emphasises how his existence was Yoshitatsu's biggest redeeming quality, that he works himself tirelessly to support his son and misses him deeply, being willing to quit the dangerous organisation outright despite the possible threat to his life if their resources can't locate his son. Tetsuo himself takes no pleasure or satisfaction from the act, and suffers from considerable guilt afterwards as well.

As it progresses, the actions of the characters/subplots start to make less sense and the things that happen seem more 'random'. The sense But somewhere along the road (literally speaking as well), it falls off significantly as the author keeps introducing more characters and subplots. The story continues to 'escalate' (higher stakes technically - but less interesting and more generic), but pacing slows significantly and the rapid fire 'panic moments' at the beginning are replaced with longer, drawn out interactions and events. When he is discovered by Nobuto, Tetsuo ends up killing him in the ensuing fight. Assisted by his wife, Tetsuo hides the body in fear of retaliation from the yakuza. To add to the misfortune of the Tosu family, Nobuto happens to be the son of the mafia's head. Considered to be prime suspects behind Nobuto's disappearance, Tetsuo and his wife will have to deploy all their ingenuity to protect their daughter from the yakuza and their ruthless investigation. Currently My Home Hero has reached a point where Part One and Part Two have been wrapped up. The first part of the story is quite a traditional cat-and-mouse game with rapid plot developments and turns of events. The reader gets to see all the essential points of view of the story, but the focus is always on our main character Tetsuo. The second part of the story burns a lot slower, introduces a myriad of new characters and shifts both the milieu and the focus of the story. Initially I didn’t like the shift because I really enjoyed following Tetsuo’s attempts in Part One to outsmart both the criminals and the cops and steer them away from his trail, but as the second part neared its conclusion I realized what has been happening: while Part One concentrated on showing us how Tetsuo perceived the world around him and reacted to it, Part Two showed us how Tetsuo and his actions looked like through the eyes of other people. It connected past and present and made me feel actions in this story really have consequences, and the impact of those actions could be viewed either horrendous or justifiable, depending on who to ask. The pacing is also very good. You'll never get bored and when we have some time to relax a little bit, the fear of being caught never disappears, with the author managing to maintain a consistent atmosphere, all the while he make us reflect a constant theme over the manga: How much you're disposed to do for your family? The author puts you in the main character's position and it feels very realistic. The stuff that happens seem unlikely to happen yet the author still manages to make you feel like it could. The only complaint I have is that the main character is a little too composed in certain situations but even then, there isn't much he can do except be calm.
