The spin bike drive is one of the areas that will require the most maintenance. Of course, this will depend on the kind of bike drive your spin bike has, whether it’s a belt drive or a chain drive. The belt drive will require very little maintenance if any. When it starts to stretch, it will begin to slip and you’ll need to replace it. But other than that, it won’t give you much work, and even then you can have it replaced by a professional. The centre console that comes supplied with the bike is one of the better that we saw although it is still simple by design. This is no bad thing as it keeps the cost down and allows you to easily display your own mobile device or tablet above it and use the bundled KinoMap app for live or pre-recorded training sessions and lots more besides. There is a pulse rate monitor built in to the handle bars and this can be displayed on the console but one feature that does set this apart from some of the other models is that it is compatible with standalone heart rate straps.

Pitching itself just a notch above JLL's most budget-friendly JF150 bike, the IC300 Pro more than makes up for its uncreative nomenclature with a hefty 20kg flywheel, adjustable magnetic resistance, and support for users weighing up to 130kg. It's an excellent choice for anyone in search of a sturdy at-home ride that'll actually save you money when compared to a year's gym membership. Unlike similarly affordable models, the IC300 Pro's design mirrors that of a road bike allowing you to practice your form (and ditch any garish neon garb) while peddling away in cool, dry surroundings.Despite these niggles, I am a fan of the Apex bike. It’s well made and looks great, the ride feel is superb, and the classes and integration with the app are beyond reproach.

If you’ve ever tried a CrossFit class, you’ll know that the air bike, aka the ‘misery machine’ or ‘death bike’, is a killer piece of kit.If you’re looking for a more relaxed cycling experience then it might be better to opt for a more traditional exercise bike, while those who are looking to realistically mimic outdoor cycling, or train for an upcoming ride, might be better served by a turbo trainer. How much do I need to spend? For example, while spin bikes that use electromagnetic resistance are closer to the ones you'll see in the gym, they're also more expensive than exercise bikes that rely on friction and cable resistance.
