Corals of opportunity are fragments of coral that have naturally been dislodged from the parent colony or substrate. It plants new trees and supports local people to build thriving livelihoods, through community managed tree nurseries and the creation of forest-based tourism experiences. So, please sign up to adopt a nest with us and spread the word to your friends and family – each nest adopted allows up to 150 endangered turtle hatchlings to go out to sea, rather than ending up in the marketplace.Often what happens is as they swim up to the surface, they become trapped in fishing gear and end up drowning. And, despite the turtles being an endangered species, people still kill the them for their eggs, meat, skin and shells. They support fishermen in poor countries so that they use equipment that is less likely to hurt sea turtles. Your symbolic adoption of a sea turtle will support ORP’s mission to protect sea turtles and their habitats; six out of the remaining seven species of sea turtles are threatened with extinction according to the IUCN Red List.

You will receive a Certificate of Adoption and also a plaque featuring your name (or the name of a family member, friend or a memorial) will be placed near the animals enclosure within the park. Although this species now shows signs of recovery thanks to a long-term, dedicated multinational conservation effort, its population is still only a small fraction of what it was when it was first discovered in the 1940s.
