One thing I was surprised to learn was how much demons suffer during exorcisms and yet, not so much as they will in hell. There are many episodes where he narrates about the exorcism but to the end part of the book I felt little boring, I don't know the reason. I also am a yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, have studied Buddhist meditation, astrology, mythology, and have many personal pagan practices. It contained very interesting anecdotes, new information, and some of the Church positions on the existence of devil. The devil is no respecter of persons and will use whatever power he has against all members of the human race.

I strongly recommend this book for anyone interested in acquiring true knowledge of the Spiritual battle with mankind's greatest enemy. In his objective and humble way, Amorth deals with issues as demonic possession, diabolical oppression (physical symptoms), diabolic obsession (psychological symptoms), diabolic infestation, and diabolical subjugation (voluntary submission to Satan); temptation, angels, prayers of deliverance (mostly in prayer groups), the Ritual (containing the prayers and norms of the Church for exorcism); spiritism, sorcery, evil spell, warlocks, witchdoctors, card readers, soothsayers, magic, witchcraft; spells by means of strange hidden objects, cooperating seers and sensitives; Satan’s influence on groups, communities, and nations with human assent; diagnosis of possession, signs of evil influence, speaking with the demon, his behavior, tactics and tricks, before he is driven out, names of demons; sacramentals like holy water, or rather exorcised water, oil, and salt.

The author suggests that the human species has only been capable of exorcising demons or devils for the past 2000 years, which is a claim that lacks logical support. a fairytale-natured book aiming to sow the seeds of false optimism and arrogance about human's power over the demons. It gave me many insights into the devil—satan—and his minions and the various ways they work to ensnare human beings, hang on to them once they have been trapped, continue to haunt them even after they have been exorcised and all the damage they can do if an exorcism is not done properly.But if you ARE a Christian interested in learning more about the types of demonic attack and defenses to those attacks, this is a quick read with easily digestible text. He gives the reader categories of demonic influence, which he labels as Possession, Obsession and Oppression. Unlike, the flamboyant, megalomaniac American Exorcists who claim to have more powers than God himself, and who have converted this warfare into an ugly commercialized market, Fr. There's no question in his mind that African religions are false and open people to demonic possession. The author states how important is to submit to the authority of the Church, yet admits to performing thousands of unauthorized exorcisms.
