i'm actually starting to be worry that i haven't been as supportive to her as i could have been during this tough, tough time. Listening to the narration was a definite upgrade from simply reading the text, and it also helps makes the experience more immersive. The female narrator gives a solid performance, but it's the male narrator who really takes things up a notch.

I mean, I get liking the chase, I also get feeling very attracted to someone but for this absolute fascination to count as believable, I need more. Describing the sound of his "snake" slithering across the bedsheets should be classified as a felony. but i’m most excited to read Emmett + Cara’s book bc i know it’s going to be a marriage in crisis (just a theory since they are already a couple in Consider Me) and i know it’s going to break my heart.If she’s mad at him then there’s no reason for her to hang out with him a couple of days later and act like everything’s cool. MaryK: I think you’re right; ice hockey does have some exoticism in the US that contributes to its romantic glamour (a term I have a hard time defining but that I think makes a difference to my reading experiences, particularly in contemporary romance). I think the best part of this story though was the way they built up their relationship - they were both so understanding and had the best communication I’ve ever seen in any book I’ve ever read. So either she tells him no for real or she tells him yes but with certain conditions to make sure she doesn’t get played, but no.

It's not that there's NO conflict but the leads communicate a lot and resolve this like a functional pair of adults. The desirability of a central male character doesn’t always have to be stressed to the same degree in a YA (it’s not always a big part of what the reader will zero in on), and even when it does, it’s usually not framed in a “marriage material” / “eligible bachelor” way, so how popular a sport played by a main character who is also an athlete is, or how much money that character earns from their sporting career is isn’t as crucial either, unless that’s a primary focus of the plot. This way the author would get the required page turns and the reader wouldn’t have to read all the boring stuff that should have been edited out. I’m looking forward to (finally) diving into the followup when it releases in audio next month, and here’s hoping that it’s even half as good as this one.

Becka enjoys writing swoon-worthy romance with lovable and relatable characters, loads of humor, and a healthy dose of drama on the way to a happily ever after. I still want to read the rest of the series, i liked the glimpses we got for the next couple, but i will wait to be in a sport's romance mood again! He does things like this throughout the book and it's honestly adorable and hilarious simultaneously. Sometimes I just want to eat a whole packet of Maltesers (for those of you who don’t know what they are, insert your favourite snack food/chocolate here).In fact, I strongly believe criminally horny men who never had hoes will jump at the first opportunity to cheat because they can't believe someone else is actually interested in them. But obviously fans from there, or from Venezuela or the Dominican Republic or Curacao, aren’t going to be attending many MLB games or watching a US broadcast. I'm pretty sure the next book's gonna be either about Garrett and Jennie, or about Adam and anyone who deserves his giant heart, and to be honest, I can't wait.
