That’s never really what these have been for, of course, and while the Advanced Positions ability on their datasheet isn’t actually spelled out, it seems extremely likely that this is the standard scout deploy, which is great for them – being able to claim objectives early and tick off a distant RND if you win the roll-off is good, and will be especially potent if the Asuryani keep Phantasm. We’re also likely to see a Combat Patrol for both factions at some point in the future, especially given the hype surrounding this release.

There is also some intrinsic value inside as 15 of the 16 miniatures are new and we probably won’t see them released on their own for a while. The quality of the figure, the detail on the sculpt, everything about this model is just phenomenal.Give them a pair of lightning claws and dump them into a Termite Drill and you’ve got a 100-point unit that can throw out 26 lightning claw attacks on the charge and with an Icon of Excess and a +1 to hit turn that into 30+ hits, all at the low cost of 100 points.

These rules do wonders for creating a tense battle that feels perfectly balanced, and can be imported into any battles outside of Eldritch Omens that fit the "Goliath Down" criteria.Obviously this will be a big draw to players of both of these forces, especially to the Aeldari who have a codex arriving very soon! Then the ability to actually do mortals on 6’s will help out and if you get lucky, you’ll grab a few. These guys can all be built with and without helmets, and with a standard requisition of bolters and chainswords, or with more esoteric gear including lightning claws, chainaxes, combi-weapons, power fists, icons, and much else besides.

There are still clearly defined ways to build the models within those limits, but it’s a nice compromise between getting the fancy poses and easy assembly monopose models offer and having some variety for players who want multiple units.The jet bikes have a lot of sticky-out fins and footrests that do seem to love slipping out of their slots when you turn your back on them for a moment, and these parts won’t survive being dropped even from a small height (as I found out to my detriment). They could not take the souls from the world but they could at least protect them from the warp and the Warpsmith. It also means that if you have a 6 in your Strands of Fate pool then charging the Autarch with a character or mid-tier vehicle is a hugely risky affair – you can just auto-hit on overwatch.
