I painted the purples I could see in the leg using Quinacridone Purple with a touch of Scarlet Lake. When those dark tones were dry, I used a mix of Transparent Orange with a touch of Opera Rose, sometimes with some additional Winsor Lemon to paint the orange midtones.I now had the extreme ends of the painting’s tonal range in place: the highlights and the darkest darks.
