I was in the market for my usual Bowmore and Lagavulin but felt compelled to pick up a bottle to see what the Japanese with a single malt.

Distilled in the tranquil forests at the foot of Japan's Southern Alps, the whisky features a rich aroma of fresh green leaves, notes of oak, and a subtle smokiness that lingers on the palate. Nestled in a green gem in the heart of the Japanese Alps, the Hakushu distillery founded in 1973 has the distinction of producing single malts with a rather green and fresh character. Hakushu is the second Single Malt distillery brought to life by Japan's pioneering and highly acclaimed whisky producer, Suntory. Intensely enjoyable and rich with nut oils and citrus zest, Yamazaki 12 year old is smooth in the mouth with biting winter spice providing that classic whisky flavour, with the fruity notes ensuring a rounded finish. With the distinctive design and recognisable Italian flair of its marker, Carpano Classico Rosso is a rich and sweet vermouth which can be enjoyed in a wide number of ways.Very light color, a bit more on the nose than I'm used to for the Jap stuff but wow what delightful flavours.
