About this deal

By intensifying the colors on the underside I’m also increasing the sense of light and dark and trying to give a better illusion of three-dimensions. I’m going to apply a similar method to the blue fish underneath by adding a few brush marks of additional texture. Explore a whole new spectrum of stunning effects by mixing these Creative Art Colors with your traditional watercolour set.

This 48 color Koi Watercolor Field Sketch Kit from Sakura features a beautiful assortment of half pan watercolors. The vibrant fluorescent hues are perfect for adding a pop of color that glows beautifully under a black light.Colours include Silver, Light Gold, Deep Gold, Copper, Pearl Yellow, Pearl Orange, Pearl Pink, Pearl Red, Pearl Purple, Pearl Light Blue, Pearl Blue, Pearl Prussian Blue, Pearl Pale Green, Pearl Green, Pearl Green Deep, Pearl Brown, Fluorescent Yellow, Fluorescent Orange, Fluorescent Red, Fluorescent Rose, Fluorescent Magenta, Fluorescent Violet, Fluorescent Blue, Fluorescent Green.

This helps the viewer distinguish between the top level of fish and the ones that are swimming at a lower level. Notice that I’m applying this final layer mostly on the shaded side of the fish so that the upper side which is turned towards the light remains light toned. A tiny bit of rubber cement could be used to secure the plastic pans down in the palette, and this way they remain removable. Now bare in mind, this is important, do NOT let ANYTHING damage/break/split/bend the sealed end of the fibres! Now I want to start adding more texture, as a way to imitate the blotchy patterns on the skin of the koi fish, and to give an impression of scales. The Koi Watercolor Sketchbox (the 48-count) has been really nice to use as a beginner, and I can’t wait to share with you guys all the things I create with these paints. To make them look a bit more three-dimensional, add a curved brush stroke to the underside as if this part of the eye is in shadow.

When you compare to Copic markers, when you over lay the markers even by the tiniest bit, you will see the tones get darker. Okay, to start off, Koi makes eight different sketchboxes of their watercolors: sizes 12, 18, 24, 30, 36, 48, 60, and 72. I keep the Cotman set at work in case I need to bust out a small lunchtime painting of Kauai in my planner. You can begin to see how the multiple layers of transparent paint produce complex and interesting textures. this will give you extra water on the paint blocks, but again you'll have to use more paint then normal for a large area BUT doing large flat colour is easier this way BUT!The Winsor and Newton genuine single-pigment colors have some organic granulation going on, but since the Sakura Koi hues are presumably synthetic imitations, they are smooth and more opaque, like inks. And what you'll have is the fibre brush, the black cage supporting it and sponge ring and the black cap with the stalk. Unfortunatly because of this compact space there really isn't any room for when you wipe your brush over one colour you have to stop halfway otherwise you'll go straight onto the next [this isn't a problem if you want two tone and the blocks are easy to clean. Each fully contained kit features a water brush, sponge, a removable palette and twenty-four mini watercolor cakes in a sturdy plastic case.

Paint the whole of the koi fish in blue, but leave the upper sides slightly lighter toned where they’re turned towards the light.Colours include Aureoline Hue, Burnt Umber, Cadmium Red Hue, Carmine, Cerulean Blue Hue, Chinese White, Cobalt Blue Hue, Crimson Lake, Emerald Green, Indigo, Ivory Black, Jaune Brilliant, Lemon Yellow, Light Red, Olive Green, Payne’s Gray, Permanent Blue Light, Permanent Green Permanent Green Deep, Permanent Green Pale, Permanent Orange, Permanent Red Deep, Permanent Yellow, Permanent Yellow Deep, Pink Madder, Prussian Blue, Purple, Quinacridone Rose, Sap Green, Sepia, Turquoise Blue, Ultramarine Deep, Ultramarine Light, Vermilion Hue, Viridian Hue, and Yellow Ochre. The sponges can be used to clean pigment off the brush, remove excess water, or to make textured patterns on the artwork. It’s not just paint, if you’re looking for a reliable easel, canvas, medium, primer or brush – you’ll find it here too. The collection consists of compact, pocket-sized boxes with specially selected colours for painting ‘on the go’ and studio sets with a larger colour range.
