About this deal

This turns into a real disappointment because Smith used to feel like the guy who didn't want to just gush praise all the time. Running 96 minutes, it’s an in-depth look at the making of the film from beginning to end, and it starts with a version of the story that was almost made several years ago. Of all the Smith properties and characters, this is the one that seems to always work every time out. Keep in mind that it's home video sales that made Clerks III possible in the first place, so here is your big opportunity to support Smith's work.

I certainly like the movie for being Clerks III, but I love it for showing the growth of these characters. Faced with the belief he wasted his life, Randall decides to make a movie that tells his story and that of his buddies at the Quick Stop. But after Randal has a heart attack, he’s determined to make something of his slacker life — by shooting a movie about it! W e’re Not Even Supposed to Be Here Today: 3 Decades of Clerks (HD, 1:15:15) – More on this film but also looking at the legacy of this staple piece of the Kevin Smith universe of films (Askewniverse). Lionsgate has issued the film on Blu-ray with a code for a digital copy and a great batch of bonus features, including two nice long documentaries. For more about Clerks III and the Clerks III Blu-ray release, see Clerks III Blu-ray Review published by Jeffrey Kauffman on December 4, 2022 where this Blu-ray release scored 3. It’s small tidbits of information that devoted Smith fans, myself included, will pick up on and that makes this film resonate much, MUCH, deeper with them. It may not fully earn its sentiment, but if you’re familiar with the other films in the Viewaskewniverse, you’re definitely going to appreciate it nonetheless.

However, Dante has reservations about the project, in particular the part at Mooby’s, given what happened to his wife (Rosario Dawson) and daughter. Show spoiler] I was spoiled about Dante's death ahead of time, but it didn't affect my enjoyment too much. But this time around, we’re dealing with the heaviest material that these characters have ever been put through. I never identified with the retail experience but two slackers, one of whom was into comic books and video games, hanging around a mall?Years later, when Clerks 2 was released I was older, had more life experience and had had setbacks in my life and career and so Smith’s film hit me like a ton of bricks.

Clerks II turned out to be surprisingly more entertaining and heartfelt than most were expecting, though it continued Smith’s tradition of outrageous shock comedy and dialogue-driven situations. Smith also included nearly 30 minutes of deleted and alternate scenes, but there’s no introduction for any of the footage, which is a bummer. Was disappointed initially there wasn't more of Rosario Dawson, as I thought she was the best addition to Clerks II, although I appreciated how they tied things up. As filming commences and more and more pressure is put on Dante, his friendship with Randal is put to the ultimate test. You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any page(s) from our site for your personal reference and you may draw the attention of others within your organisation to material posted on our site. And in fact an awareness of mortality if not the actual Spirit of Death suffuses this piece and gives it a rather bracingly melancholic aspect. Then there’s Elias, the butt of many a joke in Clerks 2 who, along with Austin Zajur (the boyfriend of Smith’s daughter) become this film’s Jay and Silent Bob – a quirky duo who spend a lot of time dressing up weird and talking a lot of nonsense and who, in the end, come good and help our protagonists in much the same way Jay and Silent Bob did for Randal and Dante in the second Clerks movie. Finally, the main bonus features conclude with a commentary track featuring Smith and actors Brian O’Halloran (Dante), Jeff Anderson (Randal), Trevor Fehrman (Elias) and Austin Zajur (Blockchain Coltrane).

The Warner Archive Collection has just brought the original King Kong (1933) back into print on Blu-ray. WONKA — The Magical Adventure of a Young Chocolate Maker Comes Home on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD on February 27th! Lionsgate has also set Fall for release on Blu-ray and DVD on 10/18, with the Digital version expected on 9/27. Dawson makes a few appearances to talk to her husband about how he should get on with his life, helping Dante overcome his anxieties as production on Randal’s movie, and this story, nears its conclusion.

They’ve also just released Abe Lincoln in Illinois (1940) on Blu-ray for the first time mastered from a new 4K scan of the best surviving nitrate film elements. Despite Kevin Smith toying with the idea of attempting to make sequels to some of his other films, his first film, Clerks, seems to be the only one (as of this writing) ever capable of achieving that goal. I’m told, however, that the studio is still looking into the problem with When Worlds Collide (1951) on Blu-ray (which is also in the package). I felt roughly the same when Clerks II came out 16 years ago and found it being maybe Smith’s best film.
