About this deal

House of Marley has managed to build a company that promotes an eco-friendly philosophy while delivering audio quality that’s probably better than it needs to be to succeed in the market.

Following House of Marley's instructions, I placed the pressure gauge on the plate, and then the stylus needle onto its 2-gram mark, and slowly adjusted the weight until the pressure gauge became level. I honestly have NO IDEA why House of Marley built such a beautiful turntable, but included a black fabric dust cover which hides the awesome design.

The minimalistic, streamlined design of this record player makes for a stunning and functional statement piece. You’ll notice our attention to detail through unique touches like the Bob Marley quote engraved on the tonearm. The Lux also features auto-stop when a record reaches its end, which I personally think is a must-have these days, especially for absent-minded types like me who like to putter while listening to records.

And even the Rega Planar 1 does not have a great spec for wow and flutter; I cannot find a published spec but I believe it is around 0. Choose the cork side for a natural aesthetic, or the Zoetrope side for a pop of colour (and an unexpected animation that comes with it*). If I don’t need to use it that’s a positive in taking up less space, but I really don’t mind continuing to use it if I have to. It adds to the expensive look and feel of the player and is just one of the details that you notice with each use. The turntable comes in a branded cardboard box with a sturdy carry handle and removable outer sleeve with a fetching foliage design.I am familiar with turntable setup, and otherwise would have found the setup instructions confusing.

Subtle enough to not be tacky, it gives the House Of Marley Stir It Up turntable an air of collectability. The company was started by Rohan Marley, who found his original success as a linebacker in college while at Miami. As you would hope with a brand focusing on sustainability, there is pleasingly little plastic involved. Read on to see what we thought or, if you're interested to see how the Stir It Up ranks against other products, you can take a look at our guide to the best record players. Or is it just a nicely dressed gymic piece aimed at someone who just wants to spin vynal without any consideration for sound quality, just convenience but no real sound and dynamic capabilities? More importantly, it won’t chew up your record collection, provided you’ve properly balanced the tonearm.
