She loves writing the dirtiest things that she can think of, King Arthur, sparkling water, Tarot, coffee, leggings, and learning new words daily. At least she does this for her own reasons and not because she’s ashamed or due to any kind of pressure from Nolan but I really would have loved her to continue it for at least a little while – there is so little of that kind of representation in romance.
Sierra’s ‘Misadventures of a Curvy Girl’ lives in my head rent free, it is that good (do go and read it if you haven’t- NOW! This is just as bad as a shitty hallmark film, except it is 400 pages long, so you end up spending 7 hours immersed in this god-forsaken Christmas story. This wasn't really fun, there was only some token forced humour (which wasn't funny), and the tension was flimsy at best considering how painfully oblivious the non-sex industry folks were to who was both starring and working on this movie. His mother struggles with her mental health, and he didn’t want to leave her alone with his younger sister Maddie, who is still in school, but filming Duke the Halls is his first step in rehabilitating his reputation and proving he can be a responsible performer.I thought it was engaging and charming, and it offers a different perspective on holiday shenanigans and those holiday movies on that greeting card channel. I think them trying to make a Christmas movie ruined the story for me, because otherwise it had interesting elements. When I found out it was about a corn producer (not the main male character) and corn actress doing their first wholesome Christmas movie, I was like okay this is going to be so good and fun if done right. A former priest is potentially okay (provided they were a former priest before anything happens in the relationship) but a current one?

The middle was a little drawn out and I found my mind wandering as I read, but I really enjoyed how there were opportunities for predictable and cliche plot points to happen, but the authors avoided that and had the couple communicate. He has to support his family : his mother who is still grieving his father, suffering from bipolar needs his help and his little sister who needs to be taken care of! I really enjoyed the side characters as well and would love to see them in their own books in the future!
