Description

This kettle has a unique shape that suits both retro and modern kitchens, and the brushed stainless steel fits any decor. We also found the material to be truly stain-resistant, and according to customers who have used the kettle for long periods of time, it's rust-resistant, too. While there are some more affordable kettles out there, this is an excellent value for money overall. For the outside of the kettle, washing with water and dish soap is generally all that's needed, though the same combination of water and vinegar can be used to clean tough stains outside of a tea kettle. All you have to do is wet a microfiber cloth with either solution, gently scrub the kettle’s exterior, and dry thoroughly. Regularly performing this task eliminates scale buildup, prevents rust stains, and keeps your kettle looking good in the kitchen. If you're cleaning an electric kettle, try to keep the base of their machine (where the electrical components and heating element are) dry. You should absolutely not immerse the base of an electric kettle in water; water can damage it and render it unusable. The stainless steel does make the kettle fairly heavy—it weighs in at 2.65 pounds—but it’s still lighter than many similar ceramic, glass, or steel kettles available today. There is something satisfyingly comforting when you see a tea kettle on a stove, whether steeping a cup of tea or coffee. The best tea kettle is a kitchen essential you will reach for daily—and while tea kettles might seem like a straightforward household item, not all are created equal.

OXO Brew Classic Tea Kettle Review - The Spruce Eats

We sent this home to one of our editors to see how this product performed in her home kitchen. For her first test, it took about 4 minutes over medium-high heat for 2 cups of water to come to a boil, with the kettle whistling at 180 degrees, and the water was lukewarm (100 degrees) an hour later. The whistle wasn't the loudest ever, though it could be heard from a couple of rooms away. The top opening is small, so most hands might not fit inside when cleaning. Drying overnight left no staining on the inside of the kettle. This kettle works with induction, halogen, gas, and electric stovetops.

The timing test involved filling the tea kettles with 1 liter of water at 50 degrees Fahrenheit, turning the burner to medium, and recording how long it took to come to a boil. We also noted whether or not the handle and body were hot to the touch and then recorded the water temperature at 10 and 20 minutes of rest to gauge heat retention. For the pour test, we boiled the maximum amount of water each kettle could hold and recorded how easy or difficult it was to lift off the burner and pour. We also noted how smoothly the water poured from the spout into the mug. For the taste test, we took a sip of the water after cooling down and recorded if there were any off or mineral flavors. Lastly, we cleaned each kettle following the manufacturer’s instructions and noted any stains on the outside and buildup on the inside. Lovers of tea will appreciate the features of the OXO classic Tea kettle because they are essential for a balanced flavor extraction of your teas. When it comes time to clean the product, the rotating handle moves to one side, and we found that the lid opening is large enough for an adult’s hand. Helpful Features: A rotating handle

OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle: 1.7 Quart Brushed Stainless Steel is a 1.7–quart electric kettle with a stainless steel body, soft–grip handle, and brushed stainless steel lid with a stay–cool knob. When you’re ready for tea, this kettle will whistle loudly to let you know it’s time to serve up piping hot tea! This classic OXO kettle comes in stainless steel. If you want a simple, affordable and durable tea kettle, the OXO Brew Classic is a solid choice. Zojirushi Ve Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer: This machine holds more than a gallon of water, but it took a long time to bring it to a boil. We also found it complicated to use. (If you get this, do not to throw out the instruction manual.) But if you need a lot of hot water all at once for a crowd of coffee and tea drinkers, it might be a good solution.

OXO BREW Classic Tea Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel

Mr. Coffee Flintshire Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle: This kettle was the cheapest and the lightest of the bunch (it weighed a mere 4 lbs, 9.7 ounces when full). Speed-wise, it came in second to last in the 1.5-quart boil speed test, but jumped up to fifth place when heating the .75 quarts. It glugged a bit when pouring at half capacity, but the water did come out in a nice spiral. However, there were stains and discoloration after just 4 boils, both of which we couldn't scrub away. Its sleek chrome design is pleasant to look at and I don't mind it sitting out on my stovetop. Despite its size, it doesn't feel like it takes up an excessive amount of room. I really like that you can move the handle to one side or the other. This makes it much easier to remove the lid. The silicone handle is also really nice! I've only ever had kettles where you have to protect your hand with an oven mitt when you pour, so it feels magical to just lift the kettle without needing any protection." — Emma Christensen, Product Tester This kettle is for all the tea lovers out there! The OXO Brew Classic Teakettle is a modern version of the classic stovetop kettle. It’s made from durable, double-walled stainless steel and includes a silicone handle that stays cool to the touch. The OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle is a great addition to any kitchen where tea is made on a regular basis.

I think the Caraway Whistling Tea Kettle is a beautiful kitchen appliance that should last for years, even though it has some quirks I didn’t expect given the price. The OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle heats water to a precise temperature for delicious, hot tea. The OXO-designed whistle is loud and clear, letting you know when your water is boiling. The comfortable handle and spout make pouring a breeze, and the sturdy design means you can count on it for many years to come. Chantal Anniversary Enamel on Steel Whistling Tea Kettle: This was the only model that matched the Fellow Clyde in ease of pouring thanks to its ergonomic curved handle design. We could get every last drop of water out with just a small tilt, and we also liked that the water didn’t stream out too fast or splash. It was also easy to clean because of its wide opening and round shape. The whistle trigger was the kettle's fatal flaw: it got very hot and our fingers kept sliding off it.
