Cats love to play and lounge around in the sunshine – their natural curiosity means that they are always keen to explore their environment but keeping them safe can be a worry. A hidden cat fence can give you absolute confidence in your cat’s welfare and the lightweight collars give every cat the chance to indulge their innate tendency to prowl and climb yet have a stretch section for complete safety when they are out and about in the garden. Moving house with a cat fence

The good news is that there are several outdoor containment options available specifically for cats. There are a lot of factors to consider when determining which type of cat-proof solution will work best for your cat, and most cat fence containment systems will fail to work reliably on all cats. The important thing to keep in mind when deciding which option will work best for you is not necessarily, “Does the system work for all cats?” but rather, “Does it work for MY cat?” One option that is commonly considered as a cat-proof fence solution is a roller system. The best paint to use in this scenario is a specialist fence or exterior paint. There is also the option to choose from stain or paint, depending on what type of finish you want. A single fence panel should take you around 10-20 minutes to complete using this method, depending on how many edges you have to paint. The plastic color is still a bit ugly. Metal options in other colors for upscale fences might be nice.

Cat proofing your yard has long been considered too difficult... Until Now...

Cat containment rollers and toppers are specifically designed to work with traditional solid garden fences. They are suitable for installation in smaller gardens, especially urban spaces with close-board fencing, where the roller can be added to the top of the fence to stop the cat climbing up and over the fence to exit the garden. To make best use of a cat fence topper or roller the garden fence has to be solid and in good repair. In rural situations where a hedge or post and rail fence is used to mark the boundary, a topper or roller cannot be installed. A cat fence roller can’t be used to protect an open area such as a driveway and may be difficult to install where the garden space is irregular in shape. Hidden cat fence barriers Start by painting the hard-to-reach areas and edges with a brush. Work in sections from top to bottom, so you can see where you have painted. They are great last-ditch deterrents for larger, smarter animals – dogs, coyotes, and cats. Turn to these when your animal has outwitted all the other cheaper options above. Make sure to put them snug against each other as you go along the top of the fence. Each space between rollers is a weak point for cats or coyotes to take advantage of. You can also use other features like the spikes shown above around these junctions to protect them further. Instead of spending thousands of dollars to redo the fence, the roll bar on the top of the fence is intended to keep your pets in by making it difficult for them to grab the top because the roll bar makes them fall off with its spinning capabilities (much like how a rolling-pin works). The added benefit is that it also keeps other animals and/or predators like coyotes from entering your yard.

Cats, on the other hand, have very different abilities, as they are able to stop their forward momentum and hold on to many surfaces with their claws before continuing their climb. This allows them to pause and search for the “path of least resistance” as they approach the top of the fence, calculating their next move. Many cat-proof fence roller systems have been adapted from the original coyote rollers with this in mind, and now there are several options available exclusively for use with cats. See our range of Roller Barrier videos for more information about this versatile and popular product. Once you have a clear space around your fence, think about covering the surrounding vegetation (essential if spray painting) and laying down dust sheets or plastic sheeting along the bottom of the fence to catch any paint drips. Finally, if you have concrete – or non-wood – posts that you don’t want to get paint on, mask off with tape and paper. A simple tip if you have slotted concrete posts is to lift out the panel completely and paint it in a separate prepared area. How to Paint a Fence: A Step-By-Step Guide The unique, independently rotating cups, collectively offer an unstable barrier for any would be intruder to negotiate, and consequently a more effective barrier than the older style rolling long tube type systems.

Driveways can easily be protected with underground cable installation – this is vitally important as preventing cats from escaping when gates are opened is often key to keeping them safe For this, you will need the best paint rollers, preferably a 4-inch product, a paint tray, and a 2-inch brush for areas that a roller can’t reach.

Rollers sit on top of a fence and roll or slide deterring your cat from walking along the top of the fence or trying to get over. They also go by the name “coyote roller”“. Coyote rollers were devised to prevent coyotes from coming inside your fence and grabbing your small dog or cat. Rinse and repeat these sections side by side along the top of the fence until the entire fence is topped with rollers. Slide the 3″ PVC over the 1″ PVC. The 3″ PVC will spin over the 1″ stopping a cat from escaping or a coyote from coming in. Alternatively, you can use one of the best pressure washers, but you will need to wait for at least 24 hours for the fence to dry before recommencing the paint job.
