I'm not a musician; I'm just a filmmaker, and my prayer is that you get an opportunity--both through the reading of this beautiful book and the watching of our film based on it--to experience what I will fail to put into words: the magic and inspiration of Zachary David Sobiech.

Zach was such an inspiring person, and when he was around his friends, I can sense that he would never show his pain to them. And how do you dramatize the intensity of those parts of life that have nothing to show for themselves by way of event or action? This is an 80-page cloud spotting guide that you can use to help you understand weather patterns and cloud formations. Zach’s experience reminded me of my passed cousin who fought for breast cancer and lost to it eventually. After watching the film, I really wanted to read the book to really understand their story and how it really happened. Her fourteen-year-old son, Zach, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of pediatric bone cancer. I will admit that I was not prepared for the faith aspects of this book and I felt like that was unabalanced within the overall book. Originally published as Fly a Little Higher and now updated and revised to coincide with the film release of Clouds , Laura Sobiech tells the amazing, true story behind the song and the movie. Laura is a force of nature and shows strength in the middle of all the adversary that comes, she bears it all on these vulnerable pages and it was an honour to be able to read it all. The book will take you on a mesmerising journey to a place that no other books have ventured – inside the nebulae, where stars are born.

I’m not a musician; I’m just a filmmaker, and my prayer is that you get an opportunity—both through the reading of this beautiful book and the watching of our film based on it—to experience what I will fail to put into the magic and inspiration of Zachary David Sobiech. In the end, knowing this is a republication I’m surprised that I finished the book feeling so underwhelmed. It felt jumpy and while the sections were usually dated to give some sense of the timeline I wound up feeling confused about what was going on and when. Golden threadlines tie each part to the next: a rupture of time in a Pisanello painting; Montaigne’s practice of revision in his essays; a segue through Vivian Gordon Harsh, the first African American head librarian in the Chicago public library system; a brief history of prose style; a meditation on the active versus the contemplative life; the story of Sarapion, a fifth-century monk; the persistence of the pastoral; image-making and thought; reading Willa Cather to her grandmother in her Chicago apartment; the deviations of Walter Benjamin’s “scholarly romance,” The Arcades Project. They say that it’s a fantastic resource for identifying and understanding the different types of clouds.

In the conclusion, he argues that the public sphere has always needed nature as its condition, but now the public sphere needs content as well. Head in the Clouds has been received with much critical acclaim, including being listed as one of the top 10 outdoor books of 2023 by The Scotsman, Scotland’s national newspaper. If you’re looking for a book that doubles as information about clouds and also uplifts you as if you were a floating on one, A Cloudy a Day is a perfect choice. With lots of flaps to lift, this delightful book encourages children to explore clouds for themselves, spotting shapes in the sky, looking at the simple science behind them and learning a few cloud myths along the way. Also, the way his mother described this whole journey of her child with hope and tragedy is beyond my understanding. You will also be able to track their likely changes over time and predict the implications they have for the weather you may experience. Das Buch steht dem Film in nichts nach und ich fand es enorm interessant, wie Zachs Mutter alles erlebt und gesehen hat.

These types of books keep the text simple and include photographs and illustrations that help to catch the attention of young, curious minds. Rachel Eisendrath is a close and astute reader who possesses great learning and vivid gifts, all of which she wears lightly. One of the questions presented is if you have never seen a certain cloud before how would you perceive it?Since it moves in a sequence, you first start learning about low clouds and then about the high stratus clouds, and finally onto any special clouds. In their sharing of the term, both kinds of clouds reveal an essential truth: that the natural world and the technological world are not so distinct.
