Organisations have a range of financial year ends, distributed throughout the year. To assist consistency, all values are converted to April 2021 prices using the retail price index (RPIX).

This digital data forms the basis of financial data in the Almanac and provides the total figures for income and spending for all registered charities.

We expect a white Christmas in the higher terrain of West Virginia in the north, but not elsewhere in the region. Therefore, NCVO extracts additional data for a sample of charities. The Charity Commission register is used as a sampling frame to select a sample of about 10,000 registered charities, of which just over 7,600 are general charities.[1] For these charities, additional financial data is obtained by manually entering data from the PDF document of their financial accounts into a database. This data entry process is carried out for NCVO by the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis at Queen’s University Belfast. Sampling the financial data With the unprecedented changes to daily lives brought about by the pandemic and the resulting restrictions, we saw an initial increase in informal volunteering (which includes giving unpaid help without being involved in groups, clubs or organisations). With formal volunteering levels not recovering to pre-pandemic levels, and the increase in informal volunteering we saw not continuing, the data echoes what we're hearing from our members.Winter will be colder than normal throughout the region. Wetter-than-usual weather is coming to the southern portions of the Deep South, Texas, and California, with potentially drought-quenching rain. As the winter map shows, much of the U.S. coastline, from New England down to Florida across the Gulf Coast to the Pacific Southwest, will experience mild to cool temperatures. SWEATER WEATHER Like all classifications, this classification is not perfect. However, it does allow for the comparison of groups of charities and it does cover the activities of the whole sector. Once the data is cleaned, ratios are produced for all financial variables in the sample within each income band and are multiplied up to the England and Wales population size using weights based on income bands. The salary report, included in the Almanac for the first time this year, was written in partnership with staff at CharityJob. Pandemic improves 'responsiveness' of Local Authorities to charities, but new research finds smaller charities missing outWinter temperatures will be milder than normal in Alaska overall. Region 18: HAWAII Organisations are struggling to retain and recruit volunteers. This will be particularly concerning for smaller organisations that rely more on volunteers. The survey covers both ‘formal volunteering’, which takes place through a group, club or organisation; and ‘informal volunteering’, which includes volunteering time to help others independently of an organised group.
