Some safety features, which prevent accidental starting by an operator or a child, need interaction, to deactivate them. But the EasiStore also has many passive features that make operating this mower that much safer for all. The handlebar will fold into two — but the real practicality comes when the machine is stood upright for storage, and the grass box is hanging from it. Personally, I didn’t think this setting was high enough for cutting a lawn with low-to-medium growth, since it almost scalped it. When using this lawnmower, I’d suggest waiting until your grass has medium growth instead to help protect your lawn over time. The handlebar also has a built-in cable tidy, allowing you to keep the cable neat and untwisted, ready for the next time you lay it out.

You rarely see an electric mower of this size and price with such a feature as a roller, but one possible reason is the absence of mulching. I was pleasantly surprised that the instruction manual was A4 in size. Most manuals are A5 and can be harder to read, especially when it comes to viewing the pictures. With the Flymo EasiStore range, it is suitable for homeowners with the roller being a higher priority over the mulching function — and for this size of the mower, it is the choice you will have to make.The 11kg 340R has a 1400-watt motor, which for most owners, is going to be more than enough power for small to medium sized lawns. Though, at the time of writing, the 380R is the better deal as it costs less than the 340R. And the extra width and power of the 380R means that you will be flying through the grass that much faster.

However, I found a possible design flaw here. Even though the manufacturers mention you can fold away the handlebars to achieve compact storage, I couldn’t see how to do this when the wire was wrapped around it. Maybe it’s possible, but it certainly isn’t obvious.
