About this deal

What is your opinion on dupes? I would love to hear all about it, so please feel free to leave a comment below.

Cream Aldi has now attempted to copy Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

If you are someone who likes to know what you put on your face then fragrance is not your best friend - there's no way to know what’s really in it. If you provide content to customers through CloudFront, you can find steps to troubleshoot and help prevent this error by reviewing the CloudFront documentation.A colorless or yellowish oil that's used as a fragrance. It has a spicy scent and can be found for example in basil, clove or cinnamon oil. Second, a study that examined the skin absorption of vitamin C found that ascorbyl palmitate did not increase the skin levels of AA. This does not mean thatascorbyl palmitate cannot penetrate the skin (because it can, it's oil soluble and the skin likes to absorb oil soluble things) but this means that it's questionable ifascorbyl palmitate can be converted into pure Vit C in the skin. Even if it can beconverted, the palmitate part of the molecule is more than the half of it, so the efficacy will not be good and we have never seen a serum that contains a decent (and proudly disclosed) amount of AP. We are highly skeptical what effect a tiny amount of AP has in a formula. Aids in the relief of irritation and redness after waxing or shaving, leaving your skin feeling supple and wonderfully smooth Aldi says: ‘The ideal item to have in your make-up collection, this contains 12 neutrally toned eye-shadows that’ll work with all skin tones. With textures that include shimmer, matt and satin this has everything you could need, including a dual-headed brush and mirror inside the box’s interior.’

Aldi beauty products: The dupes you need to know about

Aldi says: ‘Must-have cream in a handy push button pen, ideal for smoothing dark circles and covering blemishes. The light reflecting cream is also ideal as an eyeshadow base.’ Aldi says: ‘A lightweight powder that blends effortlessly for a natural, flawless look. Set your make-up for the day and you’ll look stunning right up until the evening. Create a look that lasts with the addition of this setting powder to your make-up collection.’ The pros of mineral oilcan be interpreted as cons if we look at them from another perspective. Not penetrating the skin but mostly just sitting on top of it and not containing biologically active components, like nice fatty acids and vitamins meanthat mineral oil does not "nourish" the skin in the way plant oils do. Mineral oil doesnot give the skin any extra goodness, it is simply a non-irritating moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity. It can boost the effectiveness of phenoxyethanol (and other preservatives) and as an added bonus it feels nice on the skin too. Synthetic Fluorphlogopite is the synthetic version of the super commonly used mineral, Mica. The advantage of being synthetic is that it has amore consistent quality, fewer impurities and an even lower heavy metal content than Mica (not that Mica's heavy metal content is high). It is also more transparent and has improved light reflection.Trust us, if something is used for more than 100 years in cosmeticproducts, it hasadvantages. Chemically speaking, cosmetic grade mineral oil is a complex mixture ofhighly refined saturated hydrocarbons with C15-50 chain length. It is not merely a "by-product" but rather a specifically isolated part of petroleum that is very pure and inert.

Lacura by Aldi Skincare: To Dupe or Not To - Beauty on Review Lacura by Aldi Skincare: To Dupe or Not To - Beauty on Review

So, we were pretty intrigued when Aldi announced that its newest cream was inspired by Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream. Similar to Nip + Fab's Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads, these pads are soaked in glycolic acid to resurface the skin and improve its texture. It's also loaded with fatty acids(mostly linoleic (50-74%) and oleic (14-35%)). The unrefined version(be sure to use that on your skin!) is especially high in linoleic acid that is great even for acne-prone skin. Its comedogen index is 0, meaning that it's pretty much an all skin-type oil. It is a great emollient and moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity.Occlusivity is one of the basic mechanisms of how moisturizers work and it means that mineral oilsits on top of the skin and hinders so-called trans-epidermal water loss, i.e water evaporating out of your skin. When compared to heavy-duty plant oil, extra virgin coconut oil, the two of them were equally efficient and safe as moisturizers in treating xerosis, a skin condition connected to very dry skin. Our intro did get pretty big after all (sorry for that), so let's get to the point finally: sunflower oil - similar to other plant oils - is a great emollient that makes the skin smooth and nice and helps to keep it hydrated. It also protects the surface of the skin and enhances the damaged or irritated skin barrier. Leslie Bauman notes in Cosmetic Dermatology that one application of sunflower oil significantly speeds up the recovery of the skin barrier within an hour and sustains the results 5 hours after using it.

Lacura Miracle Cream 50ml - ALDI UK

Exactly what it sounds: nice smelling stuff put into cosmetic products so that the end product also smells nice. Fragrance in the US and parfum in the EU is a generic term on the ingredient list that is made up of 30 to 50 chemicals on average (but it can have as much as 200 components!). The unique thing about petrolatum is that it is the most effective occlusive agent known today. While the occlusivity of mineral oil is in the same league as the occlusivity of plant oils, petrolatum is in a league of its own. It sits on top of the skin and hinders so-called transepidermal water loss (TEWL) like nothingelse. One of the gold standard ingredients for treating problem skin. It can exfoliate skin both on the surface and in the pores and it's a potent anti-inflammatory agent. What’s more, it’s a multitasker as Aldi confirmed it can also be used to soften chapped lips and on dry cuticles.Another super common myth surrounding mineral oil is that it is comedogenic. A 2005 study titled"Is mineral oil comedogenic?" examined this very question and guess what happened? The study concluded that" based on the animal and human data reported, along with the AAD recommendation, it would appear reasonable to conclude that mineral oil is noncomedogenic in humans." The famous Vaseline orPetroleum Jelly. Just like mineral oil, it is also a by-product of refining crude oil, aka petroleum, and it is also a mixture ofhydrocarbons but with bigger (C18-90+) carbon chain length. It’s pretty much the current IT- preservative. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben. Having compared these three products, I can say that I am not unimpressed with Aldi, especially when it comes to the Lacura Healthy Glow which contains very similar active ingredients as Pixi's Glow Tonic and appears to be working well. The Miracle Cream offers decent skin protection, albeit for a shorter amount of time than the Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream, but is definitely good value for money when comparing the price. Aldi's hand wash however has been a let down so I will not be repurchasing that one.
