Along with all the fun secular activities, I wanted to teach them why Easter was so meaningful from an early age. While Christmas is fixed to a solar calendar (and near the winter solstice), Easter is based on the lunar cycles of the Jewish calendar. And at the foot of the cross, it may have looked like Satan was right, evil had triumphed, all hope lost. The Moon repeats the dates of its phases approximately every 19 years (the Metonic cycle), and the Golden Number represents a year in that cycle. Maybe just because of the timing but it seemed even more powerful… like echoing truth, reinforcing the message.

Mommy and her little ones are settling in for story time, and this time it’s the biblical story of Easter that she’s telling. Our resources are designed to help kids develop a lifelong relationship with Jesus and to empower parents to guide them in their spiritual growth. But her greatest accomplishments happen in a happy little home on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee, where she lives with her family and a feisty little pup who is convinced he’s people too. Between this book and the Beginner's Bible Easter special on YouTube, my daughter has as a great understanding of the gospel, the best she can at her age. I’d been recently working with Luke’s story of the resurrection which, like the other three, is quite candid about the absolute disbelief of those closest to Jesus when they first hear word of the resurrection.

But on further reflection, I realize that behind most of them is my fear of pain and my fear of regret. Add 1 to any given year and divide the result by 19, ensuring that you calculate to the nearest whole number; the remainder is the Golden Number. The next day, the afternoon of Palm Sunday, I started playing around with how to capture that sense of the incredible nature of the resurrection and how everything seems kind of ludicrous about the Christian claim of resurrection and forgiveness until you believe it, and that shift in perspective changes everything.

By the end of the book, the anticipation has built and the children can celebrate the ending and the glory of Easter Sunday. If interested – and if you have the time – you could probably freeze the video at the midpoint and transcribe it, but unfortunately that’s all I can offer. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. In the past, the word easter could mean “to turn toward the east” or “rising” and didn’t necessarily have any implied religious meaning. A special thanks to LifeWay for sending a complimentary copy of Tama Fortner’s book, Easter is Coming. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. In the Christian religion, the Last Supper (the final meal Jesus shared with his apostles before his crucifixion) was a Passover feast.

The author of Easter is Coming does a fabulous joy of taking young listeners from original sin to the Resurrected Christ at the empty tomb. com to find this book's Parent Connection, an easy tool to help moms and dads (or anyone else who loves kids) discuss the book's message with their child. If the kids are getting underfoot, we have plenty of ways to keep them entertained during the Easter holidays. We’ve got tons of Easter eggs to choose from which come in all sizes, from mini treats to giant eggs, and we have plenty of options for kids and adults.on each page will encourage kids to participate in the retelling of this most important narrative and the bright and colorful illustrations of Wazza Pink will hold their attention as each turn of the page brings new pictures. So on the drive up and back, in between chatting with Katie, and while watching her lesson, I kept wondering if I could do that and how. Tama has collaborated with such well-known authors as Max Lucado, Rebekah Lyons, and Emily Ley to create inspirational books for all ages. Ben put it all together – which I just described in half a sentence but was an incredible amount of work – and posted it on Thursday – Maundy Thursday, as it turned out. Read to children by children, parents and grandparents, this book is a family tradition for generations to come.

In a time when children's Easter excitement often focuses on only egg hunts and candy, this book offers a different--and true--reason for joy and expectancy. This twelve-week study is great for groups or individuals eager to learn more about His important final week. It definitely inspired conversations with my children and had me tearing up in several spots as I read it to them. In any event, the technique fascinated me and I thought the author/poet/creator was incredibly creative. This story is truthful yet cute, and interactive by repeating certain phrases that kids will hopefully start to repeat with you as you start to flip through the pages. In reference to the full Moon, Paschal refers to the date of the full Moon determined many years ago as the 14th day of a lunar month.
