However, we did not like that we were not able to remove the lid entirely to clean the tank completely. Over time, we think that might become an issue in trapping bacteria. To prevent this, we were diligent about removing all of the contents promptly and filled it regularly with warm water and soap to keep it clean. The Eva-Dry is the simplest appliance possible with just one on and off switch, and you never have to worry about temperature. The only setting you need to watch for is when the LED indicator light goes from green to yellow, signaling it’s time to empty the water reservoir. If you are looking for a machine to cover a larger area, you may want to look into an appliance with more control settings since the Eva-Dry is about as basic as you can get. The E-500 should only be used in small damp spaces that may have odors or other signs of humidity (such as mold and mildew). Examples of these types of spaces include kitchen and/or bathroom cabinets, closets, boat cabins, refrigerators, etc. Recall that it doesn’t require electricity to operate (it only requires electricity to be recharged), making it a great option for spaces without easy access to electricity such as car trunks, safes, and the like. Speaking of safes, the E-500 is also a great solution for spaces that aren’t necessarily humid but absolutely need to stay dry. The best example of this type of space is a safe containing valuable documents, jewelry, etc. that aren’t necessarily damp but do absolutely need to be protected from moisture. Final Thoughts The E-500 is a good option for any space that’s small and/or only mildly humid. We would go as far as saying that this type of device (a rechargeable desiccant dehumidifier) should not be used in any space in which you can actually feel humidity. Instead, it should only be used in spaces in which you can only smell (odors) and/or see (mold or mildew) the effects of humidity. If you have a bedroom, living room, large bathroom, etc. with perpetual tangible humidity then the E-500 is definitely not recommended. Instead we would recommend a full size compressor based dehumidifier. For smaller areas a small capacity 30 pint dehumidifier will suffice while for larger areas with more sever humidity a large capacity 70 pint dehumidifier will be necessary.

Eva-dry E-500 Rechargeable Dehumidifier 2021 Review Eva-dry E-500 Rechargeable Dehumidifier 2021 Review

The E-333 has a moisture removal capacity of 4 to 6 ounces. Eva-Dry states that the E-333 will reach this capacity after 2 to 4 weeks of use, depending on the conditions of the space that the unit is dehumidifying. In more humid and warmer conditions you can expect the E-333 to reach capacity more frequently (once every 2 weeks or so) while in less humid colder conditions you can expect it to reach capacity less frequently (once every 4 weeks). Note that even in the most humid, warmest conditions this unit will not reach capacity until a few weeks have passed. We were amazed by how little noise can be detected from this machine and think it’s one of its biggest selling points, especially if you use this in a bedroom. Eva-Dry Edv-1100 Electric Petite Dehumidifier vs. Tenergy Sorbi 1000ml Air Dehumidifier With Air Purifying FunctionTo put this type of square footage in perspective imagine two different rooms, one that’s 333 square feet and another that’s 500 square feet. Our example 333 square foot space is 33 feet long and 11 feet wide. Our example 500 square foot space is 25 feet long and 20 feet wide. These are sizable spaces. As we discussed above, Eva-Dry recommends the E-333 and E-500 for small spaces such as closets, pantries, small bathrooms, etc. Do any of these spaces have anywhere close to the dimensions of 33 by 11 ft or 25 by 20 ft? The answer is no. Thus even Eva-Dry themselves don’t recommend these products for any type of space with the same dimensions as their specified area of coverage of 333 or 500 square feet. Why then does the manufacturer attach these large overblown square footage numbers to what they themselves call mini dehumidifiers? Eva-Dry’s Dehumidifier uses “Whisper Technology” to maintain a low noise output. The manufacturer claims the average noise output for all thermo-electric dehumidifiers they tested was 53.2 dB. The Eva-Dry EDV-1100 measures just 50.9 dB, about 2.3 dB below average. We were amazed by how little noise can be detected from this machine and think it’s one of its biggest selling points, especially if you use this in a bedroom.

Finally, you may be comparing the E-500 to cheaper non-rechargeable disposable desiccant moisture absorbers, the most popular of which are DampRid products. We’ve reviewed two such disposable DampRid products thus far, the FG50T and the FG83LV. Like the E-333 and E-500, they also don’t need to be plugged in to dehumidify. They also use a desiccant chemical agent to remove moisture from the ambient air. Unlike the E-333 and E-500 they’re fully disposable. After their desiccants reach saturation you simply throw them away. You can’t recharge them for continual use and reuse. Why then would you even consider such a product over a device that can be continually recharged for reuse? EASY TO USE: This mini dehumidifier is spill and mess free. Just hang and go! Non-toxic, child and pet safe! Your small rooms will be dry and odor free. Works for areas up to 333 cubic feet. There are no lights on the unit. The indicator window contains color-changing beads that indicate when the unit needs to be renewed. Monitor indicator beads roughly once a month (4-6 weeks) for color transition from orange to green. View beads in the indicator window of the unit. If the indicator beads are orange, the unit is ready to use. If the indicator beads are green, the unit needs to be renewed. (See step 5)

Eva-Dry’s electric models are covered by a 1-year warranty, but like most electric products it depends on the preventative maintenance as to how long they will last. SMALL, SLEEK DESIGN: This portable small design lets you hang or conveniently place the dehumidifier anywhere to fight pesky humidity! Cars, closets, boats, cabinets, gun safes, and even gym bags! A very convenient cool gift for everyone! Although both the E-333 and E-500 work exactly the same and have exactly the same design there are a few notable differences between these two devices which we’ll discuss next. The first most obvious difference between them is that the E-500 is physically larger than the E-333. The E-500 measures 8 inches long, 2.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches high. The E-333 is slightly shorter – it’s only 6.25 inches long; slightly narrower – it’s only 1.25 inches wide; and it also doesn’t measure as high – it’s only 4.75 inches in height. The second, more important difference, is the fact that the E-500 has a greater capacity but a lower moisture removal rate than the E-333. Thirdly, the E-500 can dehumidify a larger area than the E-333, at least according to the manufacturer. We discuss all of these differences in much greater detail below. Moisture Removal Rate

While we do like that the unit is incredibly small, especially with how much area it can cover, we wish the design was simpler and more attractive. On the plus side, since it is so compact, it can easily be hidden and out of sight. Eva-Dry specifies that this device can work in areas up to 333 square feet, hence the model name for the device which is the subject of this review, the Eva-Dry E-333. The E-333′s manufacturer specified area of coverage is approximately 150 square feet less than the E-500′s manufacturer specified 500 square feet. We disagree with both of these “manufacturer specifications”. 500, even 333 square feet is a sizable area – an area larger than what we believe these devices are capable of dehumidifying. MINI DEHUMIDIFIER GOES A LONG WAY: Super dry dehumidifier unit lasts 20-30 days before recharging the silica gel beads. Absorbing capacity up to 6oz.Eva-Dry specifies that the E-500 can be used in spaces as large as 500 cubic feet and that the E-333 can be used in spaces as large as 333 cubic feet. While we don’t disagree that you could use these devices in spaces as large as 333 and 500 cubic feet, our recommendation is that you don’t. The E-500 and E-333 have a multitude of uses but dehumidifying any reasonably sized space (and in this case we consider 333 cubic feet to be a a “reasonably sized space”) isn’t one of them. Applications AnswerEva-Dry uses non-toxic desiccants in its renewable units. This desiccant is a natural substance that will always absorb moisture. After several years the desiccant beads will absorb less moisture. The units last roughly 10 years before needing to be replaced, but as long as the heat source in the unit works, the beads will continue to absorb moisture and the heater inside will allow the beads to expel the moisture absorbed. The renewable units are also covered by a 5-year warranty. The E-333 is one of two different rechargeable moisture absorbers manufactured by Eva-Dry – the other being the slightly heavier duty E-500. Both units remove moisture from the ambient air by adsorption (adsorption, not absorption, is the technical term for this process). Inside the E-333 and E-500′s outer plastic shell is a silica gel which facilitates this adsorption. Once the silica gel reaches capacity (the point at which its saturated and can no longer remove any more moisture) it changes color from blue to pink. On the outside of the E-333 and E-500 is a small indicator window that shows the color of the silica gel so you’ll know when this happens (when it reaches capacity). When the desiccant (silica gel) reaches capacity you’ll need to recharge the device. This involves plugging it into a wall outlet. The electricity from the wall outlet will heat up the desiccant and liberate moisture from it. This acts to “recharge” the device. The recharge process takes about 8 to 10 hours for the E-333 and 10 to 12 hours for the E-500. Note that since the recharge process involves the liberation of moisture you’ll want to recharge the device outside or in a well ventilated indoor space such as a garage or utility room, not the room or space that you’re trying to dehumidify. Moisture Removal Rate Yes. The unit absorbs moisture. That moisture is released during the drying process. It is normal for released moisture to appear as small water droplets in the indicator window.

Eva-Dry E-333 Review | Comparison To Other Rechargeable Eva-Dry E-333 Review | Comparison To Other Rechargeable

SATISFACTION : SUPER DRY ODOR-FREE LIFE! Our dehumidifiers are top quality! Super durable and reliable. Comes with an industry-leading 5 year so you can get rid of moisture and not worry about mold or leaks! The E-500 isn’t the only low cost rechargeable mini desiccant dehumidifier manufactured by Eva-Dry. The E-333 is similarly priced (it’s actually a bit cheaper) and works exactly the same way. It also dehumidifies by adsorption and it also contains the same silica gel. Like the E-500 it has an “indicator window” that will indicate when the device needs to be recharged. The crystals (of silica gel) in the indicator window will change color over the course of several weeks as the device dehumidifies. When the desiccant is completely unsaturated the color of the crystals in the indicator window will be blue. When the desiccant reaches 100% saturation the color of the crystals will turn pink – this indicates that it’s time to plug in the device for it to recharge. Buried within the product description for the E-500 is the fact that it only removes 6 to 8 ounces of moisture and that it takes 4 to 8 weeks to do so. Thus the E-500 removes less than 1 ounce of moisture per day. For the sake of this discussion let’s say that it removes 8 ounces of moisture in 4 weeks. 4 weeks = 28 days. 8 ounces divided by 28 days = approx. 0.3 ounces of moisture removal per day. Compare this number to the 70 pints = 1120 ounces of moisture that the FFAD7033R1 removes. 1120/0.3 = 3733.33. In other words, the FFAD7033R1 removes almost four thousand times as much moisture per day as the E-500 at less than 10 times the cost. When comparing moisture removal rate, the larger compressor based dehumidifier is clearly the much better value.
