Great hub and great choice of book. Even if I didn't read it yet, I remember that when I was a teacher, the young children had quite a fascination with those big animals! And you are right... reading gives the opportunity to ask questions to children and to engage them further! Assign everyone a role as one of the characters. See if your children can act out the story from memory. If not read a bit at a time and then act it out. The Big Question How important is it to fit in? Big Questions

A rhyming text with a memorable refrain, along with a gentle anti-war message and bold, appealing illustrations, will make this book a welcome addition to any child's library. Before Malcolm and I had our three sons we used to go busking together and I would write special songs for each country; the best one was in Italian about pasta. This was the first of my books that David Roberts illustrated, and we had a memorable launch in the Natural History Museum, presided over by a gigantic dinosaur skeleton. As always there are many things you can do when reading books with your little ones to help them enjoy and learn from the experience.

Spring 2/ Summer 1 - Growing/Minibeasts - Aaaarrgghh, Spider! Once There were Giants - Celebrations I had expected something totally different from this book. I can't say what, as that would spoil the book, and for such a short review I don't feel like spoiler-tagging stuff. I was hoping for one ending, but I got a totally weird and not even close to what I wanted ending. An ending I didn't see coming. Children have been busy researching dinosaurs in school and at home. In addition we have been looking at non-fiction, information books and we now know the names of several dinosaurs. Miss Cochrane is even able to pronounce some of their names! Interesting story to use in a class. Would be fun to work on in a playful way with children, as well as a good discussion for themes of family, friends, fitting in and getting along.

Tyrannosaurus Drip is a fantastic rhyming adventure story from Julia Donaldson, bestselling author of The Gruffalo, with wonderfully funny illustrations from award-winning illustrator David Roberts. This roar-tastic book all about celebrating difference is sure to become a firm favourite with young dinosaur fans.The rhyme scheme of the poem is engaging and the illustrations by David Roberts are really interesting and different from many others of Donaldson’s books, but I nevertheless found the book charming and delightful without being preachy. As you re read the book encourage children to join in with the refrains such as ‘Up with rivers! Down with water!’ And ‘SPLASH!’ Talk about the story

This is a brilliant story emphasising that just because you are born into a particular society does not mean you will fit in there. There might be other people / places that you get along with better! We turned the narrative poem (The Spider and the Fly) into a playscript, by setting it out correctly and adding detailed stage directions. Although Tyrannosaurus Drip is another good work by Julia Donaldson I found that it didn't quite reach the same level as some of her other picture books. It's probably because she's written some fantastic prose in her other picture books, like The Highway Rat, that I found the mechanics of the prose a little disjointed at times. An example of this is the songs that either dinosaur family sing in the beginning of the book doesn't really continue or evolve through to the end - it's sort of left behind as an idea as the story moves along.
