You can put basic heat pads made of bamboo, silicone, cork, or ceramic under your air fryer to protect your countertop from heat damage. Any object put under an air fryer should be heat-resistant, water-resistant, and flat. Your best option is a silicone mat as they are very durable, easy to clean, and take up little space. So, now that we know what to look for in a protective mat for our air fryers, what are our options? Believe it or not, there are several alternatives to choose from, which I’ll briefly cover down below. Silicone These silicone mats are made up of high-quality medically approved silicone material. You can also use them as a baking/pastries mat or other food preparation works like vegetable cutting, potholder, pizza dough-making mat, etc. In fact, placing an air fryer on the stove is associated with a lot of risks and shouldn’t be done. The primary danger of placing an air fryer on the stove is that you could easily turn on the stove by accident. All of this must be taken into account when using an air fryer. This heat-generating device is very safe when used correctly – but could be a hazard when you don’t put some thought into operating it.

Each board also includes a feature designed especially for that ingredient. The meat board has a moat to stop juices spilling over the edge of the board; the fish board has grippers; the cooked food board is equipped with crumb catchers. All four have rubberised feet on both sides, so they’re fully reversible and won’t slip. Speaking of cutting boards, you might be interested to learn that your cutting board (not plastic, mind you) could make for the perfect barrier between your countertop and the bottom of the air fryer. Cutting boards come in all sorts of materials, including wood, glass, stainless steel, and bamboo.

This will cause the air fryer to sit on top of a heated stove, and eventually, start a house fire. It doesn’t take long before the air fryer starts to take damage, and for the electrical fire to start. The Farberware Glass Utility Cutting Board is an excellent choice as it can withstand temperatures up to 356°F (180°C). Will an Air Fryer Damage Countertops? Almost all model ovens fit inside the area of the glass cutting board. These are washable and reusable. Work well against oil stains and food stains. Each of the four polypropylene boards has a soft-grip tab on its edge that’s illustrated with a specific ingredient to reduce the risk of cross-contamination – the different colouring of each board helps in this regard, too – and they come stored in a sturdy, space-saving holder. Not so fast. Plastic boards are easier to clean than wood, not least because you can slide them into the dishwasher and sanitise them using chemicals and bleach, which rinse off plastic far more easily than wood.

Although some air fryers have insulation underneath them to protect your countertop, they also have vents to release the heat. You cannot place your air fryer in a corner where it cannot dissipate heat efficiently. Place it five inches away to protect the wall from the air fryer heat. The glass cutting board is not highly heatproof, although it can resist the normal air fryer heat. So you can use it as a heat-resistant counter protector.

An adequately maintained air fryer that’s utilized in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations should be handled with oven mitts or left to cool down minutes after the cooking cycle has finished. Pros: Even cheap polypropylene boards are dishwasher-safe and can withstand rigorous abuse from chemicals, hence their popularity in pro kitchens. They’re lightweight and easy to manufacture in different colours, so you can buy a colour-coded set to avoid cross-contamination. Pros: Silicone may one day end the wood/plastic debate by out-doing both materials. Pro chefs already love its knife-cushioning and non-slip properties, its lightweight versatility and ease of cleaning. Designers love silicone, too, because it’s flexible enough to morph into pourers, funnels and even bowls.Excessive use of oil inside the air fryer can cause oil to splatter onto the heating element, which will start to produce smoke. As your air fryer fills up with smoke and releases it, the air fryer’s exterior may also get hotter. so you can get great results every time when you cook using the items from this range. Cooking Utensils, Spatulas, Whisks, Slotted Spoons and More Placing an air fryer on the stovetop is also prohibited. You can accidentally turn on the stove and damage your air fryer.

Don’t let the above put you off, though. The Chop2Pot is a fabulous board – and the small 25.7cm version makes a great pressie for a foodie, too. The only niggle we had is that it marked easily when using heavy-duty knives. If you’re like us though, you’ll have a different chopping board for different tasks and this one is ideal for general everyday use.
