For clips with movement, the X-T5 doesn't tend to fight against smooth pans, which its predecessor was somewhat prone to do. But a sudden jerk of the camera can certainly throw it off. Similarly, motions like walking or running with the camera are just a bit too much for the X-T5's IS system to handle. Video AF The Hard Graft Slide wrist strap is a well-made, high-quality option. I consider it one of the best wrist straps available and has a nice aesthetic. I wrote up a small review on this strap you can read about – Hard Graft Slide Camera Strap Review The X-T5 is the second camera to use Fuji's 40MP X-Trans image sensor, following the X-H2. The imaging engine is the same here, and the X-T5 includes a five-axis in-body image stabilization (IBIS) system. It supports uncompressed, compressed, or lossless compressed Raw, as well as JPG and HEIF formats. In-camera Raw editing is available, and all of Fuji's signature Film Simulation looks are included to try. XF 30mm F2.8 R LM WR Macro, f/2.8, 1/3,800-second, ISO 160, Classic Negative First off, if you’re shooting a group portrait, then you’re probably using a wide-angle lens to get everyone in the frame. Additionally, you wouldn’t necessarily stop down to f10. As a point of reference, in 2018, we published a post on the best focusing style for landscape photography. And the same mindset applies here. I truly don’t understand why you’d stop an APS-C camera down to f10 because you’d get diffraction. If you were using a flash, you could instead raise the ISO and, therefore, the sensitivity to the entire scene. Alternatively, you could use an electronic shutter and stop down to somewhere like f5.6 or even f8. But even that latter aperture setting might be pushing it a bit.

Despite the lower price, Canon's EOS R7 runs the X-T5 pretty close in spec terms, with a faster burst rate, decent video specs and a sensor only 7MP behind. Its autofocus is also very good in stills mode. The X-T5 offers a more analog shooting experience, a larger, higher-res viewfinder and our favorite rear screen arrangement for stills shooting. The Fujifilm also has access to a far more comprehensive system of lenses designed with APS-C in mind, which further enhances its credentials for enthusiast photographers. Seriously, these sensor brushes are the best way to clean your sensor. If you’re just cleaning up dust and dirt that won’t come off with the air blaster, the sensor brush is unbeatable. In my tests I confirmed the X-T5’s top mechanical burst speed of 15fps, even with continuous autofocus, where I was able to capture 329 large fine JPEGs before the camera slowed. That’s over 20 seconds of action at the full resolution, so should be fine for most scenarios, plus the buffer emptied almost immediately when using a fast UHS II SD card. Thankfully, the single autofocus mode is much better. I got the best results with the X-T5 on single-point and AF-S modes. Here, photos were very sharp and lovely. I think the XT5 also had less of a tendency to focus on the eyelashes rather than the eyes when eye AF is turned on.

As you’d expect there’s the full selection of 13 Film Simulations to choose from, one of the delights of the Fujifilm system, and if you go for one of the monochrome simulations, you can also apply a colour tint effect if desired.

OPPO's mid-range smartphone aims to provide a sophisticated camera system at an attractive price. Andy Westlake sees how it measures up. I think the softness is more lens and focus-related than sensor-related. If you look at the X-H2 test scene, shot with the same lens, it's somewhat sharper in most parts of the frame, indicating more optimal focus. But I also think this lens is just not performing that well for this test - maybe close range and flat field are not its strong points. It seemed to perform pretty well for the pixel-shift test, but that was at distance.

On the photography side, the specs are very similar to the X-H2, with the camera able to shoot 40MP images at up to 15fps using the mechanical shutter. A much smaller buffer and the use of SD cards means it can't shoot such long bursts as the X-H2, but the image quality it delivers is identical.

The Xiaomi 12T Pro offers a whopping 200MP main camera, but how does this perform, and do the other cameras deliver? Joshua Waller puts it through its paces. A hinge at the side of the X-T5’s screen facilitates overhead or low-angle shooting in portrait format. Image credit: Andy Westlake I never got batteries with my Nikon f90, never mind a charger for them. Not really an issue to get uptight about. Indeed, nonsense. Pixel / sensor size has nothing to do with camera shake. That's just dependent on angle of view, total number of pixels, and viewing size. This will undoubtedly frustrate the venn diagram of X-T lovers who want both the grip and the retro aesthetic, although I’m told the takeup on that accessory wasn’t particularly large. I certainly understand Fujifilm wants to differentiate between the models and provide reasons to spend more on an X-H2, but I feel killing the grip accessory for the X-T5 is an unnecessary restriction. Fujifilm’s Natural Live View option is also available, which aims to mimic the experience of shooting with an optical viewfinder, with reduced saturation and brightened shadows. This can be particularly handy when you’re shooting in high-contrast situations, and I’d consider assigning it to a function button (I use the View Mode button) on the viewfinder housing. Overall, the X-T5 gives an excellent viewing experience that’s probably better than anything else you can get at the price point. Fujifilm X-T5: Autofocus RAW files are available in uncompressed, lossless compressed or lossy compressed formats, and you can also choose whether to record standard images in JPEG or HEIF formats.
