Flesh is a Trap - visual essay exploring body horror and transcendence in the work of Clive Barker by genre author Guy Adams (The World House) – NEW (18 mins) Archival features, including Hellraiser Evolutions documentary, Books of Blood and Beyond literary appreciation, theatrical trailer and image gallery

Previously unseen extended EPK featuring interviews with Clive Barker and Doug Bradley - NEW (12 mins) This series has been terrible for so long, that it either needs to die or go in another direction. The talk of making a female pinhead has been out there for a while now, this isn’t new. If you’re thinking this is in regards to a movement have not been paying attention to rumors on this series for a while. Hell, I’d love to see them go the Kristy Cotton route myself. Newly uncovered extended Electronic Press Kit (EPK) interviews with Clive Barker and stars Andrew Robinson, Clare Higgins, Ashley Laurence, and effects artist Bob Keen, shot during the making of Hellraiser, with a new introduction by Stephen Jones and Kim Newman, plus the original 1987 EPK – NEW (41 mins) Hellraiser 2022 debuted in the states as a Hulu exclusive, so physical media collectors were shut out since when that is the case, they almost never come to disc. However, the film is getting a DVD release in the UK. Releasing March 27th, the disc looks pretty bare bones, and to watch it here in the US, you will need a region-free player. But I enjoyed this film and would love to own it on my shelf. You can see the cover for the release down below. Credit Paramount Home Video Hellraiser Was A Great Redo And so the sequel, Hellbound: Hellraiser II, was rushed into production during the finalisation of the first film and released barely twelve months after. Problems plagued the hastily assembled production, from actors refusing to return forcing script rewrites, to financial problems with production company New World Pictures, the final film is a scruffy, messy expansion of the first that still manages to offer up some stunning designs and scenes and a delicious peak into the mythos of the Cenobites and of Hell itself. There’s no doubt that the Hellraiser franchise has been diluted somewhat by a sea of inferior sequels and the loss of just about everyone associated with its beginnings in the intervening years. However, there is something that can’t help but resonate with the public’s consciousness about the film’s antagonists and what they stand for – at once terrifyingly evil and wholly unknowable, yet rooted in what it means to be human, their being angels to some and devils to others is a notion we seem unable to shake. And certainly the best of the films are gathered here in this collection, now including one of the most interesting if not quite best of the sequels.

That Rat-Slice Sound - appreciation of composer Christopher Young’s scores for Hellraiser and Hellbound: Hellraiser II by Guy Adams – NEW (12 mins) One of the most charming facets of Onyx the Fortuitous is its commitment to practical effects, specifically its use of puppets to bring demons, ghouls, and creatures to life. In regards to 2016's Ghostbusters (which i don't understand why you people are so fixated on even 6 years after its release) yeah sure the movie had problems and it was wrong for Paul Feig to double down on the whole culture war aspect of it but lets not fool ourselves because there was a shit ton of racist and misogynistic vitriol directed towards the cast, especially towards Leslie Jones. Hence any legit criticism of that film is forever tainted. The big question with this release, however, is how it compares to Anchor Bay's fine and, unfortunately, out-of-print release. While the two are in many ways comparable, the Anchor Bay releasecompression issues, and the like are mostly non-factors. The most noticeable area of separation between the Image and Anchor Bay releases is clearly skimpy inclusion of just the film's trailer. For viewers who just want to watch Hellraiser in 1080p, the Image disc is a good option, but viewers This comment section took a very ridiculous turn. As pointed out above, do some research on the franchise before rolling your eyes on a female pinhead. Hell, read some of their comics. One might find that pinhead has been a woman before.. nevertheless proves to be the superior version. It's perhaps a hair crisper than the Image release. Fine detail is comparable, with a slight edge again

The biggest difference right off the bat between the two competing editions of Hellraiser is Image's ditching of Anchor Bay's Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Based on Andrew Bowser’s viral character of the same name , Onyx tells the story of an amateur occultist who learns that sometimes when you raise HELL… you get a little burned . Hellraiser has had its US release, both on the horror festival front and then on Hulu, which should immediately suggest it would be coming to the UK on Disney/Star. But... the launch of Paramount+ in the UK has complicated this issue, with international rights to release Hellraiser now potentially in the hands of them (it's coming to Paramount+ in Australia, for example). Only time will tell, but what it does mean is that it isn't out here yet, which is frustrating in the digital age, when day-and-date digital releases should be the norm (see: Netflix) rather than a pleasant surprise. First things first – the Leviathan documentary on the first two films that was included in the previous Scarlet Box and Trilogy set is NOT included here. Neither are the 30 min making of Hellraiser III and short films on the bonus disc of the set. However everything else is. And some…This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. We have no idea at this time whether or not Hellraiser will be released on DVD/Blu-ray here in the United States, but we’ve learned the film is hitting DVD over in the United Kingdom. something of a slightly washed out look to it, but the palette looks good in context, whether accurate flesh tones, bright blood red, or the earthen Resident Evil Labs My favorite are the people who complain about the 2021 "Candyman" being too "political" and "woke" and then going mute when it's pointed out that the original three were as subtle as sledgehammers to the kneecaps on every topic from racism to class inequality to police brutality (which "Day of the Dead" REALLY had something to say on). And Arrow have delivered top notch restorations and a wealth of new and interesting supplementals to help ease the pain for those double and even triple dipping on these films. It’s a handsome set both on-disc and off and should make fans very happy indeed.
