Kratom: Please be aware that mitragynine (a major active ingredient of kratom leaves) can inhibit CYP2D6 ( ref). What does this mean? CYP2D6 is a major detox liver enzyme especially involved in breaking down and clearing numerous prescription drugs. In other words, avoid kratom if you're using prescription drugs (or other drugs!) because it may leave those drugs in your body too long. That being said, I've noticed genetic variations in people's responses to kratom but, in case of extreme pain and injury, it's ideal if you can solely utilize kratom over synthetic opioids (e.g. oxycodone/oxycontin, hydrocodone/vicodin, morphine, heroin, fentanyl).
