Description

Since this already has two indentations and isn't really that visible from the outside, I figured to go with a blank one. The building set (officially numbered LEGO 76909) has got 564 pieces, and includes interchangeable driver numbers for both Lewis (44) and Valtteri (77). The dark colour scheme, not traditionally associated with Mercedes AMG, originates from the 2020 and 2021 Formula 1 seasons, representing a commitment towards diversity. Lego sets take a long time to develop while F1 driver contracts change quickly, and liveries for new seasons are developed under a cloak of secrecy.

The F1 car toy (or 'the Mercedes-AMG F1 W12 E Performance', to give the vehicle its official title) has even got options for interchangeable black and yellow on-board cameras – a small real-life detail on all Formula 1 cars so you can recognise each team's two drivers at speed. Because that would allow to slide the driver one stud forward, recline him/her and then attach the wheel above the legs with the special plate 21445 - did not try it but might be (an element) of solution. While Lewis may have missed out on the drivers' title last year, he and Valtteri were part of the constructors' championship-winning Mercedes AMG F1 team – and its 2021 season W12 has been carefully rendered in brick form as part of a new Speed Champions double pack.Even so, this is something which must be addressed because the same issue affected 76905 Ford GT Heritage Edition and Bronco R last year.

Hearst UK is the trading name of the National Magazine Company Ltd, 30 Panton Street, Leicester Square, London, SW1Y 4AJ. I'm still waiting for a mainly black car, preferably in a single pack, as that would look really clean (dragster doesn't really count). Brickset, the Brickset logo and all content not covered by The LEGO Group's copyright is, unless otherwise stated, ©1997-2023 Brickset ltd.The teal stripes decorating each side look marvellous too, especially since they only involve stickers where truly necessary. I think the model looks particularly appealing from the front, where its distinctive radiator grille assembly is most visible.

Stickers form the centre console and a computer display, but the seats are extremely basic and the steering wheel is not perfectly positioned in front of the driver. Speed Champions occasionally features minifigures inspired by real people, although the yellow skin tone traditionally associated with original characters remains. Be sure to check the Jadlam Rewards Dashboard on the bottom Right of our screen for all the ways to earn! Unfortunately, I think that was unavoidable without changing the outward proportions, in which case the current design is the best available option. I guess they didn’t expect it to sell as well in the USA sincw F1 is traditionally less popular here, but that’s changing rapidly.A collector's dream, these collectible toy cars are fun to build, great for display and perfect for exciting racing action.

The Project One is less convincing, too blocky although they did a much better job than with the Lotus. Neither minifigure includes a double-sided head, but a pearl silver wrench is present for removing the wheel inserts. LEGO Speed Champions sets deliver authentic replicas of the world's most innovative and best-known vehicles. Interestingly after watching me build LEGO for over a decade, my wife decided to give it a try and her preference is Speed Champions! As well as a toy F1 car, you'll be able to build a LEGO version of a Mercedes AMG Project One hypercar, the company's high-end vehicle which takes its F1 tech straight to the road (or will when it's eventually released in real life – it's not even gone into production yet according to Carmagazine ).Given the curved bodywork shape, I think the Project One appears reasonably accurate when viewed from the side.
