Breastfeeding is recommended for the first six months of a baby’s life. However, this isn’t always possible for everyone and so many parents choose a formula for their baby. Before giving a formula to your baby for the first time, or when switching to a different formula, it’s best to get the advice of a midwife or GP to help feed your baby and to keep them as safe and healthy as possible. This advice goes for all formulas in our roundup below. To add to the wind she is also constipated and so is waking at night trying to do a poo. Nappies are wet so i know she is taking enough fluid and is having water in between feeds. It seems the ready made milk she had in scbu was a lot easier to digest even though they are one of the same.Goats' milk formulas are not suitable for infants with cows' milk allergy (also known as cows' milk protein allergy), as the proteins they contain are very similar. Hungrier baby formula (hungry milk) Approx. age: 4 months; Approx. weight: 6.5kg, 14 1/2lb; No. of level scoops per feed (1 scoop = 4.6g): 7; Quantity of water per feed: 210ml, 7fl.oz; No. of feeds per 24 hours: 5 Comfort formula is made from partly broken down (partially hydrolysed) proteins. It's not suitable for babies with cows' milk allergy. Follow-on formula Approx. age: 2 months; Approx. weight: 5kg, 11lb; No. of level scoops per feed (1 scoop = 4.6g): 6; Quantity of water per feed: 180ml, 6fl.oz; No. of feeds per 24 hours: 5 Baby formula does not provide the same benefits as breast milk for mum and baby: this can protect against infections and help reduce the likelihood of diseases in both mother and child.

Would it be a bad idea mixing carobel with comfort milk? i guess if the carobel was going to give her diarrhoea or looser poo's anyway then the constipation milk would make it even looser wouldn't it? All babies are different, and it can take up to 2-3 weeks for this product to have an effect. if you don't see a difference after this length of time, we recommend you talk to your healthcare professional. So now we don’t know whether to try the carobel in normal milk or see if she gets used to what she’s on?

When your baby is 1 year old, they can start to drink whole cows' milk or sheep's or goats' milk (as long as these milks are pasteurised).Boil 1 litre of freshly run water. Leave kettle to cool for 30 minutes and no longer. Measure the required amount of water (refer to feeding guide) into a sterilised bottle. Be careful of scalding. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water. Cow & Gate Comfort (from birth to 1 year) is easy for little tummies to digest made with less lactose, partially digested whey proteins and structured vegetable oil, making it suitable for the dietary management of colic and constipation.

Measure the required amount of water (refer to the feeding guide) into a sterilised beaker. Do not add powder to boiling water due to risk of scalding. The cows' milk in formula contains 2 types of proteins – whey and casein. First infant formula is based on whey protein which is thought to be easier to digest than other types of formula.Breastfeeding is the recommended choice of feeding for your baby. You should always seek further advice from a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian or pharmacist for the proper method of use for infant milks and all matters concerning infant feeding. For the first six months, all a baby needs is milk and the NHS recommends breast milk for those first six months. However, this is not always possible for a number of reasons, and some parents choose to formula feed their little ones instead, from birth to 12 months. Of course, a lot of parents also combination feed, helping alleviate some of the pressures of breastfeeding.
