So let me put this straight. I am coming from Focal Spark and sr850. Mic on focal went kaput within a few months and both the metal casings popped open last week. For a brand as renowned as focal, the quality turned out really bad. No complains on the sound quality though. Even the mic was really good while it worked. It's just that it worked for only a year. Anyway.. The BL-03 comes in a tall, white box that has a transparent top, giving you a view of the IEMs inside which are seated in a plastic tray. There’s not much else in the box, except for 3 pairs of silicone eartips, the detachable cable and a fabric carrying pouch. The BLON BL-03 stage dimensions are about average for a budget earphone. Wider than it is deep, sounds are spread out with good space in between. The stage position is slightly forward. Because of its width, instrument separation is above average and there is sufficient depth to enable some solid imaging as well. Comparisons The bass on the Mangird Top is deep, impactful, and textured. It's not overly boosted, but it's definitely present and gives the IEM a fun and engaging sound. The bass is also very well-controlled, so it doesn't bleed into the mids or highs.

But is its tonal balance enough for me to overlook its shortcomings in technical performance? I’d argue no to that. But on that note: is its tonal performance enough to distinguish itself from being simply “average”? Certainly. Isolation is non-existent if you don’t find the right eartips and it’s decent at best if you do. I would not recommend the BLON BL-03 if you are looking for headphones that offer high isolation, but they’re quite enjoyable in low-noise environment. The BL-Max has more quantity in the lows. It has a louder rumble and slightly longer decay in the subbass. Midbass also has more weight and more boomy in the BL-Max. Meanwhile, the BL-07 has better depth, texture and control. With the mids, the BL-07 has way better transparency, has more air, and sound more natural than the sometimes nasal and boxy sounding mids of the BL-Max. The BL-07 also has more details, sparkle, and longer decay in the highs. Cymbals and lead guitar sound livelier and more energetic. In terms of the soundstage, the BL-07 is wider and taller. Instruments are separated better and imaging is much clearer in the BL-07. The E3000’s cable is unfortunately not detachable, which could be a deal-breaker for some. Non-detachable cables may be a point of failure down the line, not to mention some consumers may want to pair balanced/aftermarket cables with their IEM, or even hook up Bluetooth adapters. The treble on the Mangird Top is extended and airy, but it's not too bright or harsh to my ears. This makes the IEM sound very open and spacious. The treble is also very detailed and can hear all the high-frequency details in your music. Not only do they isolate outside noise very effectively, certainly as well as many budget noise cancelling headphones will, but others can’t hear your music either. Gone is the maddening audible tshh tshh tshh sound associated with so many earbuds and portable headphones. Your cohabitants and fellow commuters will thank you! Treble is remarkable in how it is tuned. It offers a relatively linear response, with just the upper frequencies that roll off and become inaudible. There’s a bump in the middle region, though, which helps with clarity and lends the sound air and space. The overall tuning is airy, pleasantly sparkling and never offensive. Those sensitive to treble will probably want to equalise it down half a notch, but everyone else will probably just enjoy it as it’s never aggressive, sibilant or excessively present. It’s also well detailed, so details emerge clearly and are always identifiable. There’s not a large presence of micro-details, but this is expected and it’s remarkable enough that there are micro-details at all. Final Audio has also entered the TWS game recently with the ZE3000 and have an exclusive accessories line-up. Technical Specifications

SELECT COMPARISONS vs BLON BL-03The OG superstar of the BLON family still remains unchallenged and seems to have been one of the rare “justified” hypes in recent years. The BL-03 is cheaper than the BL-MAX, has a worse fit, and requires both cable and tip changes. The good news is that the bass isn't overpowering nor too dominant so the rest of the frequencies and especially the delicate mid band, don't get clouded and they can sound clear enough and well separated. While the T3 doesn’t have the same quantity of bass as the BLON, the T3 bass is more articulate, and it plays deeper notes. The mids are more forward and detailed.
