An early member and later President of the London Sketch Club, he founded the New Art School (later the Hassall School of Art), which he ran for twenty years. The print been scaled for the best fit within the sheet and set within a white margin to assist with framing and mounting.There are different versions of the poster, however, the fisherman and the slogan are always part of the design; one such later design, promoted by the LNER, [note 1] showed the same fishermen design being tugged along the beach by a toddler hanging onto his scarf.
