As the Arbrau Incident ended with Makanai being re-elected as prime minister, the collusion between McGillis' father, Iznario, and Henri Fleurs was exposed, forcing his father to go into exile. As they parted ways, Iznario reminded McGillis that he saved him from despair and promised that only despair will await him. McGillis subsequently went to Almiria's side and comforted her as she grieved over her brother's apparent death. The side story section of the mobile game Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS G revealed that Gaelio personally named the Gundam after the Æsir god when Yamazin Toka wonders what its name should be. Stored on the blade holder mounted on the rear skirt armor, the pair of Bael Swords are forged from rare metals, just like the V08-1228 Grimgerde's Valkyrja Blades. [1] [3] [4] [5] They serve as Gundam Bael's primary weapon, and symbolized the strength of Agnika Kaieru who needed no other armament. [1] [2] [4] [5] Despite being lightweight, the Bael Swords can slice apart mobile armor's and mobile suit's frame when used by a skilled pilot. [4] [6] One of the "Gundam" frames that was produced and used in the Calamity War roughly 300 years ago, the Gundam Kimaris is able to achieve a high energy output because it possesses two Ahab Reactors. [1] Only a total of 72 Gundam frames were ever produced because it is difficult to run two Ahab Reactors in parallel operation. [1] The Kimaris is specialized for close combat. It uses a lance named 'Gungnir' as its main weapon, while also possessing a foldable combat knife and two launchers in the shoulder that fires disk-shaped weapons known as Slash Disks. [2] [3] In episode 15, McGillis dons a mask and a wig to obscure his appearance as he carries out his own plans; this is a homage to Char Aznable from the original Mobile Suit Gundam.

Given some of the Middle Eastern and Asian influences in the series, there is an odd phonetic coincidence as Vidar also means "Awake" or "Aware" in Persian and a few other Indo-European languages of the region (Old-Persian, Pashto, etc.). This is similar to how the Kujan family may be a reference to the real life Kushan Empire. The term "Awake" or "Awoken One" would fit Gaelio as he is awoken to the true nature of his former friend, McGillis. While mourning the loss of Crank, Ein would meet and befriend Gaelio Bauduin who, despite his noble standing, treated Ein as an equal. Ein appreciated Gaelio's kindness and while he was still dedicated to revenge, he swore to give his all to his new friend. True to his word, Ein was severely injured protecting Gaelio and eventually underwent the Alaya-Vijnana surgery himself to gain an edge against Tekkadan so that he could avenge Crank. Unknown to Ein and Gaelio, they were just pawns in McGillis's plan. When Tekkadan's Mars HQ was surrounded by the Arianrhod Fleet, the Barbatos Lupus Rex was deployed alongside the group's remaining mobile suits to buy time for the non-combatants to escape via the secret tunnel underneath the base. The suit was heavily damaged when the Arianrhod fleet launched an orbital bombardment using the Dainsleifs. Despite this, it continues fighting until its pilot, Mikazuki, passed away from his fatal injuries. McGillis also pilots a red mobile suit, the Grimgerde, like Char Aznable who also piloted a red mobile suit.

As with Barbatos, it can be assumed that all Gundam Frames have sigils on their consoles upon activation, corresponding to the seal of the demon after whom the Gundam is named. A similar seal for Kimaris is also shown in its vacant hangar at Gjallarhorn's headquarters, reinforcing the likelihood of this being the case.

Once Gundam Vidar is completed Julieta is present as Rustal meets with Vidar in regards to their next move. Julieta later accompanies Vidar and during the transition to their destination, she questions why Vidar fights which she learns is for revenge. However, when she witnesses Vidar's skill in battle and notes that he cast aside his name in favor of his Gundam - Vidar, she remarks that he fights beautifully. In turn, Vidar explains that he was just happy from piloting the Gundam at long last. While Julieta still doesn't fully trust his motives, she's glad that she can rely upon him during the coming battles in the future before they both head off together to finish the mission at hand.

Any of the weapons can be wielded by the hand parts. (The handgun can only be wielded by the default hands) Ein has very similar traits to Jeremiah Gotwald from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, another Sunrise anime series. Both start off as minor characters but turn to needing cybernetics to survive by the end of their series' first season. In PD 323, Gaelio Bauduin pulled the Kimaris out of the family's treasury to battle the Tekkadan's ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos. This is also the first time that the Kimaris is deployed in combat since the end of the Calamity War. [3] Julieta later requested to be the test pilot for the new Mobile Suit. Rustal is hesitant about allowing her to do, but relents and agrees to it. He then reminds her that she's already strong enough in his eyes and that he has a different path envisioned for her. This shows that Rustal seems to view her as more than just a tool despite that being what Julieta wishes to be for him.Gundam Bael is the first Gundam Frame to appear in the anime whose namesake holds the title of 'King'.
