And thus they get dragged to Rome, to the gladiator tournaments. Where we meet the rest of the gang. I was happy to see them all together, and then see them try to fight for their lives. Though you can imagine how that looks given that, with the exception of Milus, none of them know what the hell to do. So it was equal parts hilarity and excitement. I was definitely impressed with Julius. I knew he was great, but this great? Plus I loved what he did for his new friends. I thought this book was really interesting but I do not really like comics. I prefer normal books because proper books give you more information about the characters and the story. The main character is Julius. Here is some information about him he: likes porridge, gets on well with a lion and he is a champion gladiator and clever. This is what some of the other people in the book think of him: he hates the stinky lake, a bit of a loser, probably got eaten by a lion and stupid. Julius Zebra is a soldier.

Goods that by reason of their nature, cannot be returned - (Items such as underwear, where the 'hygiene patch' has been removed, or cosmetics where the seal has been broken). Bonkers but brilliant angels & urchins [A] pleasingly daft romp... the book has a very Horrible Histories sense of humour and grounds its silliness with facts about gladiatorial combat. Financial Times

I graduated from York University and have worked on excavations in France, in Ireland and in England of course; I even helped train students in field archaeology on a Silk Road citadel in Kazakhstan! I would recommend this book because it is hilarious. I give it nine out of ten because it is a bit scary in parts. The funniest part so far is when Julius calls the gladiators, monkeys! (Katie P, 8)

In my opinion, Julius Zebra was a very enjoyable book with a lot of fun and adventure. I like how the author included a glossary and facts at the end. I loved the comic themed introduction and the concept of this book. I would recommend this book for readers aged 8 and over. I enjoyed this book so much I went out and bought the first book in the series (It was the last one on the book shelf.) Brimming with brazenly bonkers and clever jokes; this is the ideal handbook for kids with a budding comedic talent (and an essential guidebook for those without). This new addition to the Julius Zebra collection encompasses all of Julius and friends adventures. I think that Julius Zebra is a very funny book full of comedy. Another very good thing about it is that it includes a lot history, like how the Britons would fight the Romans in a battlefield. It relates to real life as well because the Romans had the Coliseum to fight in with different gladiators. The book makes you actually feel like you’re the zebra going up to fight against the Britons. My favourite part was when the Romans where on a holiday on a cruise ship and they want to escape, so they come up with a master plan of dressing up like fish and diving into the ocean. This overall was a really great book it was full of emotions and really was a great book.

Julius Zebra wordt gevangen genomen door de Romeinen, en komt er zo in een bruisend Rome terecht, waar hij tot gladiator wordt getraind en voor zijn vrijheid moet vechten. Personally I really enjoyed reading the book. I love history and I enjoyed finding out new things about the Romans. I’d love to read more from the same author, it was very inspiring to read and I am going to ask my mum to buy me more for my birthday! In conclusion, I think this book is an enjoyable read and a great story. Some of the characters personalities are so unusual that it makes the story ten times better. I think young children could read this book as it is quite easy and contains lots of pictures. I enjoyed reading Julius Zebra because of all the amazing illustrations and words. My favourite character is Julius. I love the words he used for Julius's actions. I think the history about Heter is not true but the tomb of Cleopatra has been found and Cleopatra was true. What they don't realise is they have been kidnapped and are being taken to Rome by soldiers to fight great battles with gladiators in the world's deadliest theatre, the Colosseum! Class 3H from Carr Junior School in York have read and reviewed Julius Zebra: Rumble with the Romans by Gary Northfield. The book is published by Walker Books. It tells the story of a zebra called Julius who is captured by Romans from his home in the heart of the Serengeti in Africa and taken to fight against gladiators in the famous Colosseum in ancient Rome. I was laughing out loud every time when Julius was brutally honest (talk about zebras who speak before they think).😃😃😃 I would recommend this book because it is adventurous especially when Julius goes on a boat from Rome to Britannia. I would recommend this book for people at school who are learning about the Romans because it would teach them more about Roman history and life. I learnt that in Britannia they also had arenas and in the arenas animals fought against animals. The book made me want to find out more about the Romans and Celts. I can’t recommend this book enough, and in fact the entire series. I have definitely become a fan of Julius Zebra and can’t wait for every adventure he goes on. It’s a wonderfully funny book which plenty of kids will love, but it’s also a bit educational too. I also think a fair few adults will enjoy this story too.
