Description

The Rat God makes her first appearance at the very beginning of the game, after Mad Rat dies during what appears to be an on-screen vivisection. She starts by calling out to him from a dark void, asking if he can hear her. Leitmotif: "MAD RAT, ALIVE?" Elements from this song pop up in the boss battle with her, as well as in the bonus song "If We Could Be Friends." a b Winograd, Jeremy (April 3, 2023). This makes the existence of other magic-users in Skaven society, such as the Festering Chantors of Clan Pestilens, the Eshin Sorcerers of Clan Eshin, and the Harbingers of Mutation of Clan Moulder, troublesome to the Grey Seers. Within the Realm of Chaos, the Horned Rat has carved out his own domain, called the Realm of Ruin, just like that of his more powerful rivals among the major Chaos Gods. [5a] The land is overrun with the Daemons of the Horned Rat known as Verminlords, each one as big as a Giant, and just as numerous in that realm as the Skaven are in the mortal world. However, there are only twelve Verminlords that are truly great and hold much influence in the realm, and these are those Exalted Verminlords who sit on what is known as the Shadow Council of Thirteen. The chief among their number is Skreech Verminking. The thirteenth member of the Shadow Council is the Horned Rat himself. [5a] Evil All Along: She initially presents herself as being on Mad Rat's side, but from the beginning, her true intentions were to get him killed.

As this entire sequence serves an obvious gameplay function, the canonicity of this conversation is unclear. First Year of the Rat [ edit ] The ancient shell end bone style Chinese character shǔ (鼠), for rat/mouse In this form, the Rat God dons a full human outfit evoking the image of a "magician," complete with an exaggerated top hat. She wears a one-piece suit, primarily comprised of a magenta vest with long coattails (which matches her high heels and the aforementioned hat) overtop a white leotard (matching her detached cuffs and tie). Tying her outfit together is the yellow ribbon wrapped around her top hat, which is in turn color-coordinated with her hair.

I would always regret when I was hinting at something [in a song]; I would always just be like, ‘Why didn’t I just say what I meant?’” she says today. “I was most self-conscious about my parents [listening] if I made something vulnerable. But I slowly got less self-conscious about saying what I wanted to say, and once we ripped off that band-aid, I established that our relationship can handle me talking about stuff that wasn’t so nice growing up.”

The Jade Emperor and the race for zodiacal place [ edit ] The rat and the other animals as shown on a Romanian postage stamp The Rat God is conspicuously absent for a period of time after this event. Heart, having figured out the true nature of Mad Rat's strange behavior, is able to prove to the protagonist that he has been experiencing dramatic hallucinations (including his "revenge" on the human). The two soon discover that other, Stray Rats are being "guided" via hallucinations to "cheese" (i.e., cats) by the Rat God as well (reference to how The Cat looks like a piece of cheese before killing the other stray rats), calling into question the sincerity of her motivations. Being gifted real cheese by a human child (whose life Mad Rat saves) only serves to underscore the difference between the Rat God's hallucinatory fantasies and the reality that the two protagonists exist in. Treacherous Advisor: All of her "advice" in the game is just a ploy to get Mad Rat killed so she can live on in another host's body.

If the choices were pitiless and cold, the doctor will be just as bad as Mad Rat thought. If the choices were merciful and emphatic, it is revealed the doctor is actually a decent person and their cruelty was yet another hallucination made by the Rat God. There are a lot of Lovecraft references: Miskatonic University, Arkham, the Elder Gods, the gibbous moon, Yog Sothoth, C’Thulhu, not to mention our hero Clark looks a dead ringer for HP Lovecraft himself. But why? I have no idea! Corben’s a Lovecraft fan? Corben’s a horror artist and Lovecraft wrote horror so… ? Baffling.
