The 40-quart is compact enough to be carried by one person yet large enough to hold two days' worth of food and beverages for two people. To give you an idea of capacity, the 40 Litre will hold 55 cans of drink along with gel packs, ice or a combination of both.

And I can honestly say it actually works, it is still in the garden now with the cans in we brought back and they are still very very cold. I find that the first lot start thawing after just a few hours, as the cool box starts of in the 20's. The 40 Litre is an incredibly useful size and will accommodate bottles of wine standing upright, an important consideration for many! Just to add, we stopped using the small ice blocks and now we use frozen bottles in our Igloo Maxcold 70 as well and found they last longer, when we use ours for the 4 days we are at Leeds Festival it does the job very well and an added bonus is nice cold water when the bottles start to melt. Obviously this got expensive, I didn't have a thermometer, the butter was still hard, so it was under 16 C but obviously above 4 C or the frozen ice wouldn't have melted.
