Lonely men are we, Rangers of the wild, hunters – but hunters ever of the servants of the Enemy.” – Aragorn, The Fellowship of the Ring

Unlike Secrecy cards, which benefit you when your threat is twenty or less, Valour cards benefit you when your threat is forty or higher. This is typically later in the game, when you have already built up your strength and resources aren’t quite as much of an issue. So instead of offering effects at a discounted cost, these cards offer powerful effects that can only be triggered when your threat is forty or higher. Some orcs and undead could be seen as disturbing/scary, and a few cards depict dead or dying humanoids, though no extensive violence is shown. If you’re cool with the Lord of the Rings movies, then you’ll be cool with this (slightly tamer) art. Character Expansion In the Angmar Awakened Campaign Expansion, players will find a storyline built from the original The Lost Realm and Angmar Awakened cycles. In the expansion, players will be initially aiding the Dúnedain in hunting some roaming orcs, before things start to escalate further beyond anyone expected. Eventually, players will be going up against entire war parties of orcs and wraiths, until experiencing a final showdown in the capital of Angmar. Whilst the side quest cards in the Hero Expansion offer nice optional incentives for players, the side quest cards in the Campaign Expansion will result in something bad if they’re not dealt with – drastically changing the motivation behind completing them. What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dúnedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?” –Aragorn, The Fellowship of the RingIn addition to its new scenario, The Wastes of Eriador also contains a new hero and three copies each of nine different player cards. In the lands traveled so often by the Rangers of the North, you’ll find new Dúnedain, Hobbits, Scouts, and side quests. You’ll also find new ways to protect your heroes from damage, as well as the new Valour trigger, which continues to gain strength throughout the Angmar Awakened cycle.

Valour cards are inspired by a quote from Boromir that I think highlights the difference between his philosophy and perhaps the rest of the Company of the Ring: Recently, Fantasy Flight Games released Lord of the Rings: The Card Game Revised Edition. As the name suggests, it is streamlined reprint of the Middle-earth based living card game where players take on the roles of the Fellowship and defend the land from the dark forces of Sauron. Now, Fantasy Flight Games have announced that these revised rereleases will continue with a new expansion coming to the game, titled Angmar Awakened. That’s right, in this campaign, each player gets their very own ship to control! These powerful objective cards can provide much-needed boons during your sea voyage, including a means of fighting off enemy ships. In addition to the titular Dream-chaser Dream-chaser CE, 136), which is required in each playthrough, players can choose to sail the Dawn Star Dream-chaser CE, 137), the Duskbringer Dream-chaser CE, 138), the Glórinaith Dream-chaser CE, 139), the Nárelenya Dream-chaser CE, 140), or the Silver Wing Dream-chaser CE, 141). That’s six ships in total; two more than the original release! Meanwhile, the cycle’s new player cards take The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game in several different, all-new directions. For example, in previous cycles we’ve seen various Secrecy cards that reward players for keeping their threat low, hiding from enemies, and sneaking their way through locations and around obstacles. But what about those heroes of Middle-earth who choose to face Sauron’s forces head on, confronting them face-to-face upon the field of battle? For those who do not shy away from risk and danger, we introduce a new ability trigger – Valour.A majority of the hero cards pertain specifically to Dunedain and elves, so if you enjoy using those heroes and you’d like to buff them, this could be a great expansion for you to snag. Ents make an appearance as allies here as well, and they are quite powerful, but you have to plan ahead because they enter play exhausted. In September of 2021, we revealed the Revised Core Set for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game in our Gen Con 2021 In-Flight Report. This game is FFG’s longest-running card game, and even though there were no “new” expansions on the horizon, we still wanted to support the LCG and provide opportunities for new players to finally take the plunge. Each campaign is its own self-contained experience. The boons, burdens, and other modifications earned in a campaign do not carry over into other games or campaigns, unless explicitly stated by a card ability (such as the Resolution effect on the Campaign Card for Escape from Dol Guldur)."

What roads would any dare to tread, what safety would there be in quiet lands, or in the homes of simple men at night, if the Dúnedain were asleep, or were all gone into the grave?” – Aragorn, The Fellowship of the Ring The Angmar Awakened campaign is quite difficult, but new players might miss that it's possible to carry over boons from the Mirkwood Paths campaign into your "next" campaign. I'm convinced the designers intended for players to use this to make the Angmar Awakened campaign easier and more approachable. But always I have let my horn cry at setting forth, and though thereafter we may walk in the shadows, I will not go forth as a thief in the night.” With treachery afoot and the forces of Angmar on the move, only you and your fellow heroes can aid the Dúnedain in keeping the darkness at bay. Whether you missed the original version of the Angmar Awakened cycle or are just now getting into The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game, you can look forward to adding the Angmar Awakened Hero Expansion and the Angmar Awakened Campaign Expansion to your collection when both products release this summer!Return to one of the earlier cycles of content for The Lord of the Rings LCG with the Angmar Awakened Hero Expansion and Angmar Awakened Campaign Expansion. These two products combine all of the content from The Lost Realm and the corresponding Angmar Awakened cycle. All of the player cards from those expansions can be found in the Hero Expansion while all the scenario-related cards can be found in the Campaign Expansion, along with some new campaign cards that weren’t part of the original release. This is the perfect opportunity for new fans of the game to experience this cycle of content, and for longtime fans to catch up on any parts they may have missed. Whether you want just one of the expansions or both, no fan of the game will want to miss Angmar Awakened! Strider’ am I to one fat man who lives within a day’s march of foes that would freeze his heart, or lay his little town in ruin, if he were not guarded ceaselessly.” – Aragorn, The Fellowship of the Ring Two classic cycles for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game are being reimagined in a new set of expansions. In addition to a gripping story, the Campaign Expansion also includes some gameplay mechanics that help the scenarios stand apart from those of the Revised Core Set. For example, in several scenarios you may find yourselves traveling with the Dúnedain allies Iârion Angmar Awakened CE, 1) or Amarthiúl Angmar Awakened CE, 2). While handy to have around, you must also keep them healthy, because if either of them is defeated, you lose the game!
