AF measurement points for still images. The number of points used varies according to the shooting mode. zxaar: give it a rest. This is a discussion of the Sony camera. The R5 was released in 2020. We all know about its strengths and weaknesses. BTW, it also has sold very well, served many people very well, is an interesting product and did drive discussion :) You get the latest software version with the greatest new features and along the way you see your computer crashing and old projects screwed. And oh yeah...that EVF of the Z9 offers a far better user experience than the A1...it's not even close."

And of course P&S compete with smartphones but they are like coming from stone age! No one with his right mind will chose camera with very basic jpg engine and f3 and above lens, over f2 and faster lens with all latest and greatest AI postprocessing! P&S is not competitive product, it is dead on arrival! Actually dead before arrival! :D The a7 IV also offers the ability to live stream video over its USB connection using the audio and video standards (UVC/UAC) that are part of the USB standard. This allows a choice of HD or FullHD resolutions with FullHD available at up to 60fps. There's also a 4K option but this only supports 15 frames per second, which gives a dreadful stop-motion look to the footage. Connection is designed to be as simple as possible, using the Imaging Edge Webcam software for Mac or PC. A connection via smartphone is also possible, though audio may not be available at resolutions above HD (720). HEIF 10-bit stills Unlike the A7 III before it, which had a tilting screen, the Sony A7 IV has a flip-out vari-angle display. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World) Here we can clearly see the advantage of Sony's new 33MP sensor versus the lower-resolution competition. Only the 24MP Nikon Z 6II can get close, and only at high ISO sensitivities. However, the extra resolution does mean some compromises....The curious thing is that if Sony was to launch the A7 III today, at its current prices, we would probably be raving over what it offers for the money. This is still a powerful, effective, do-it-all camera – its video specs are starting to look somewhat stale, but for everyday 4K capture and as a powerful stills camera, the A7 III still has what it takes. Full-width 4K video takes around 26.5ms, which is comparable with the other models in its class. Like most of its rivals, it's likely the camera is dropping to 12-bit readout for video mode, but the process of downsampling from 7K to 4K should reduce noise and hence prevent DR dropping to ~12EV. 60p footage has a rolling shutter rate of around 12.8ms, which is low enough to avoid distortion of all but the fastest movement.

The Sony A7 IV has twin UHS-II SD card slots, but the top slot can also take the latest CFexpress Type A cards (not shown here) which are needed to exploit the full range of this camera's burst shooting capabilities. (Image credit: Rod Lawton/Digital Camera World)Every camera vendor could cut their development and software cost by just go and do what smartphone vendors do. Buy chips from CPU vendors, get software from google, just add your AI/AF/jpeg mumbo-jumbo in single proprietary chip and you are good to go.

Sony A7 IV review: the new hybrid king | TechRadar

Dynamic range is a measure of a camera's ability to record extreme brightness ranges and still retain detail in the brightest and darkest parts of the scene. It's measured in EV (exposure values, or 'stops'). Even though your response doesn't really deserve a serious answer, I might have considered sending such a letter to Sony if I thought there was even a remote chance they would respond with any kind of insightful answer. Still images: ISO 100-51200 (ISO numbers up from ISO 50 to ISO 204800 can be set as expanded ISO range.) Just lowering the prices of dedicated cameras is not going to entice the vast majority of customers to buy a camera rather than use their smartphone. With most people you could give them a camera and they wouldn't use it. Up to 10 fps in continuous “Hi+” mode and up to 8 fps in continuous “Hi” mode. Maximum continuous shooting speed is reduced when shooting lossless or uncompressed RAW / RAW+JPEG images. Maximum fps will depend on camera settings. Do you see my words above? So you need to have desirable product, and it need to be good product and on good price! There's also a fully-articulating rear screen. These aren't to everyone's taste but allow video, vlogging and selfie shooting in a way that a tilt-out screen doesn't.

Other positive changes I noted regarding continuous shooting that has only more recently been fixed in the latest Sony cameras includes the ability to move the spot focus point as the shutter button is held down, and crop mode can be switched when the camera is clearing the buffer. Autofocus
