Description

The RTC1000 arrives encased in its protective carry bag with a set of latex gloves for handling messy wheels and a spare set of tyre valve caps included. This digital tyre inflator has a carry bag case with flat edges for the purpose of unobtrusive stowing. That’s a nice touch because the RTC1000 is likely to reside inconspicuously in the boot of a car for most of its lifetime.

The preset digital air compressor function with auto shut-off saves time and hassle. Unlike other models, the display also features tyre pressure readings in PSI, BAR and KPA, so no more having to make complicated conversions from one type to another. For dark winter mornings or night time car breakdowns, there’s a handy LED lamp that features a torch, flash and SOS setting for extra convenience and safety.Practical Caravan is part of Future plc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. Ensuring the tyres on both your car and your caravan are at the right pressure before heading off on tour won’t only keep you safe – it could also help save you money. Some reports estimate that if your tyre pressures are even just a little bit too low, your fuel economy could be up to 10% worse. https://forums.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/12v-van-tyre-pump-recomendations-please-/49906/ Jump starting is now fast, safe and easy, thanks to the new slimline Lithium Jump Starters from Ring Suitable for motorhomes, trailers and 4x4s, it makes a great option for multi-vehicle households and could save you quite a bit of money in fuel consumption over the years. Hi Colin, can you advise whether the engine should be running when using the Ring 900. I don’t want to end up with a flat battery. Once connected, the LCD screen indicated the PSI on my Citroen C1’s front right tyre in a matter of seconds. Target adjustment was another painless process as only the middle dial needed to be turned for me to reach my desired PSI target. As it stands though I’m more likely to reach for my more convenient battery-powered pump when it comes to squeezing a few extra PSI into my tyres.

With that I have no trouble in lifting the odd few psi up to 65 that I might encounter when out and about. I've no interest in further cluttering up my garage with the type of compressor you bought, but I do value the versatility of a powerful 12V tyre-pump that takes up little storage space and can travel with me in my motorhome. If people are looking for a pump most suitable for inflating motorhome tyres at any time or place, then I don't think there's anything better on the market than the RAC-900. If they just want a mains-powered pump, then they can do as you did, but they won't be able to travel with it. Alternatively, we have a powerful air-suspension compressor fitted internally. Might this be adapted to also provide emergency tyre inflation too? Some years ago I bought a RING RAC900 tyre inflator. All was well, but at that time I had a 12v battery “spare” . My leisure battery is not that accessible, so this worked well. At home, in the drive, but not on the move.

I'm looking for a reliable air compressor myself after finding out that the supplied one on our Burstner is next to useless....actually it is useless. As I’ve said here in the past, I have a T-Max pump that’s conceptually similar to the RAC900. When used at home I power it from a ‘slave’ 12V battery (because this is convenient and I have a couple of spare batteries) and I store the pump in a handy niche under my motorhome’s bed. If I had to use the pump away from home I’d either power it from the jump-start points or from the leisure battery . From the pictures you can see: The diameter is 10.0 mm, The pitch is 1.0 mm and in the jaws of my calipers it looks fairly parallel.

With its generous 70cm air line, this model can accommodate most cars with ease. Simply enter your desired pressure and the unit will begin to inflate your tyres, and then shut off when it’s done. On the downside, this tyre inflator tends to skip the last one to two units.

Ring RAC900 - Practical Caravan

Yesterday I had another look at it and tried inflating the van tyre .. no good it wouldn't work.. so I called Ring Technical help.. 0113 2132000 But the best - by a mile - was the RAC900. Although you do need to crocodile-clip it to the battery (flip the bonnet and find the jump start points) it has a really long lead and its design features a massive air-line style spiral air line tube. So you don't need any adaptors even on the longest of motorhomes. The RAC830 Caravan and Motorhome Rapid Digital Tyre Inflator is ideal for campervans, motorhomes, 4X4s, SUVs, caravans, minibuses and vans. In using them, we could also determine if their power leads and air hoses were long enough – longer ones make the units easier to position and cordless ones are even better. We also found that the screw-on style couplings were the best and easiest to use.

Technical Specifications

IDEAL FOR LARGER VEHICLES: this powerful air compressor is ideal for inflating high pressure tyres. It also comes with 7m extendable airline, which can stretch the full length of a motorhome or transit van. I’ve always noticed that pressure gauges attached to pumps give incorrect readings. I suspect the dynamic pressure in the pipe from the pump is greater than the static pressure in the tyre. It has worked faultlessly many times but they do have limitations, I never run continuously for long periods, which would be needed for inflating a large tyre from near flat. Can you recalibrate the pressure gauge, as our old compressor I think is now running 10psi over the real psi level? But while the speed is great, niceties such as a digital gauge, an auto-stop function and lights, are conspicuous by their absence. On the plus side, you get a 7m-long coiled hose between the compressor and the screw-on tyre-valve coupling, and the compressor itself can be up to 2.4 metres from the battery, thanks to long power leads that clamp directly to the battery’s terminals.
