Netgalley Reviewer, ***** 'A great book, has twists and turns, its exciting and i couldnt put it down, highley recommend. His other hand was clasped around her middle, but it felt weighty, as though he was holding something, which was prodding her stomach. He was tall, slim and good looking with jet-black hair, and she thought for the umpteenth time how lucky she was to be married to him.

You may miss the characters being introduced, but the stories are not intertwined and you’d miss very little by reading this as a stand-alone book. But when Laura’s business is repeatedly vandalised, she begins to fall back into old habits to cope with the stress. ams, golds and subtle shades of yellow, fitting with the name of the place and very tastefully done. Heather Burnside spent her teenage years on one of the toughest estates in Manchester and she draws heavily on this background as the setting for many of her novels. At it’s center is a strong woman that I was rooting for all the way, it’s a full five stars from me and then some. I am a sufferer of depression and found this was covered well in the novel, it can be hard to portray in a book but I think the author has given the character more depth and made Julie more believable in her situation.

But he senses she is harbouring something dark… And when the truth is finally revealed, Brady blackmails Beth into bankruptcy. In my honest opinion, Heather deserves to be as popular as Martina Cole, Kimberly Chambers and Mandsue Heller and Heather Burnside is definitely on my must read and favourite authors list. As Beth smiled at his enthusiasm, he nodded at a table for two with plush chairs covered in a fawn-coloured fabric. The Queen of Urban, Gritty Crime, Heather has written and published three series, The Riverhill, The Manchester and The Working Girls series, all available on ebook by Aria. Out of the corner of her eye, Beth noticed the manager watching her, but before he had a chance to comment, she rushed away from the bar, feeling flustered. As Beth moves on from her trauma with new husband Brady , she seems a happy, successful career girl. The feeling of desperation and constant threat runs through the whole book, and is almost enough to make you want to stop reading, if you weren’t so invested in the characters.
