The new BBC HLS system will give you access to higher quality music. I understand they use 320k AAC. The original and v3m versions of the Web UI let you play through Sonos speakers as well as the wired speaker (or built in speaker on BB1). It's always a good idea to wash difficult CDs - use soap or detergent and warm water - but nothing abrasive. Pat dry with kitchen towel

CD players have several layers of error detection and correction. You will sometimes hear the B3 slow down if it has difficulty reading a CD. The offline database has two disadvantages. It does not have any album art and it does not know about recent CDs.

Brennan Capacity

The Sonos will then spend quite a few minutes a ridiculously long time indexing the Brennan B2 - don’t worry it doesn’t do it every time. Make a cup of coffee. If you have a lot of music make a meal. You can tell its doing something if you listen to the B2 you can hear the hard disk head moving.

It appears that the x-14 may transmit a more reliable wifi signal to be used wirelessly with another receiver connected to another analogue or digital amplifier, but I haven't tried it yet. You can do wired connection pre-amp outputs using analogue or digital on both, which is great for interconnecting with existing audio stereo/amplifier systems and multiple surround speakers with more power. Both don't recommend using wireless speakers, but it might be more possible with the x-14? I designed the JB7 and B2 to be as small as possible - I think I inherited that instinct from Clive Sinclair There is a crude tone control (taken from early B2s) added to the settings panel in the original web UI. If you return bass and treble to the middle the tone control will be switched off. You can play music on the B2 to any and all of your Sonos speakers. Add music to the queue and create Sonos playlists. The B2 becomes part of the Sonos system. iPad NAS AppThe Brennan can play internet radio stations. There are more than 40,000 to choose from. Use the vTuner tab on the Web UI to explore. Assign favourites to Presets. Bluetooth The biggest difference is the hardisk memory capacity. The x-14 can take up to 8 TB, whereas the Brennan only about 1-2 TB max. And the cheaper models of the latter only use SD memory cards, which to me seems like a rip-off. Yes you have to buy the disc or sshd on the x-14 separately and install it yourself, but its very easy, and the company will walk you through it. To me it was worth it. And the price is cheap for 1-2 TB. And if you want to increase later, you can import the pre-existing DB. You cant do that with the Brennan. Set the path to the Brennan B2 music folder. You can use Browse - you will find it under the network folder. There isn't any documentation for Bluetooth Out yet but you should be able to work it out. You can drive it from the front panel or the original web UI (Cog then Bluetooth). You will need to plug the Bluetooth dongle into a USB port to use Bluetooth. The Bluetooth dongle is usually marked V5.0.

Many of the JB7 and B2 design decisions followed naturally from the decision to be as small as possible. Internet Radio - 40,000+ stations from around the world. Organised geographically or search by name with the Web UI - ten presets Loads the offline CD database (mydb) from the USB memory - you can get this file from a link on www.brennan.co.uk - its more than 1Gb Day 8 after ripping 350+ CDs, content is present in the Web UI but fails to play or display album art, attempts to update result in "waiting for disk" message and the content disappears from the UI, when attempting to play from the device itself, there's no content listed at all.

NAS stands for Network Attached Storage - that basically means that the music on the Brennan B2 hard disk can be seen by other devices on the same network. B2 and B2B have both been updated to include the new Radiofeeds list and the change to the web UI presets panel. After upgrading the software you should load the new Radiofeeds list using Settings > Radio Update If you have just ripped (or attempted to rip) a CD then you can find the digital fingerprint in the debug panel of the original web UI.
