Description

Broken souls exist. You can see it, feel it, and experience it. It is not a gift that brings joy or love. It’s a debilitating disease that kills hope and leaves one empty inside. Having a broken soul is like being trapped in someone else’s battle. My wounds are still fresh, some are beginning to heal, but most of them feel as if they’re never going to heal. A long, quiet night passed. It didn't bother me. I was used to being quiet. But this time, my mind was full of Lucy - a welcome change. That night, Lucy wondered if she should tell him she knew. Would it help or would he yell at her? Would it upset him? Deciding she didn't want to hurt him, she stayed silent. Her fever broke just after eleven and she fell into a soundless sleep. Her room, despite the open window, was stifling.

It feels like your heart is bleeding. You are depressed and upset and feel like you have lost all hope. With a broken soul, it is hard for you to move on and feel good about yourself and life. Rain pelted the windows. Darkness approached. I turned on the floor lamp, turned on the television - volume off, and sipped vodka. A welcome buzz formed, muting the voices in my head. A broken soul leaves you with a piece missing in your heart. You feel empty, alone and completely lost. It’s like an empty space inside of you, a void that is unfulfilled and never content. Cheeko ‘the old boy’ but by no means does his age hinder him in anyway. Cheeko is a very active, happy pooch who loves going for walks for the same length as Stella and when you see him running after a ball you will know what I mean. Cheeko is very playful, loves his toys especially his Kong all his toys remain in tact with their squeaker working and he is not destructive with any items. Cheeko will bring me a different toy every morning when we first awake and he is vocal in showing that he loves you and gets very excited to see his hooman. Exactly the same as Stella, Cheeko is perfectly house trained, eats at designated meal times, does not beg for food and does not bin raid, counter surf and has never had any accidents in the house. Cheeko is ok to be left in the day and copes well without Stella. Cheeko occasionally will bark if a group of people walk past or if a visitor enters the house but in no way aggressive, he is very loving, happy meeting new faces and loves fuss and cuddle. Whilst testing Cheekos recall, Cheeko does not tend to move far from your side when off the lead. Cheeko walks brilliantly on the lead and is very calm meeting other dogs but will bark if another dog barks at him but has never shown any signs of aggression and is less interested in cats compared to Stella but not a massive fan. Cheeko loves a cuddle but will quietly take himself off to bed once he is ready for some shut eye. Cheeko can sometimes be vocal (whine) on car journeys because he is excited but will sit with Stella safely. Cheeko also loves bath time with his furry best friend and will stand in the tub enjoying a good scrub.

Ten minutes in, Lucy edged closer to me. Not long after, she fell asleep, feverish, flushed, snoring, and utterly adorable. I didn't move. She moaned and tossed and turned, eventually rolling into my side, finding comfort and quieting. Lucy was asleep and uncovered when I entered her bedroom, sweating, her brow wet, hair damp. I rinsed a washcloth in tepid water and laid it on her forehead, then covered her. Pulling a chair over, I sat.

There was a problem with her comment. High snow banks and a hedge prevented any view of the crossing street. You couldn't see anything until you were at the intersection. Glancing at her, she had her face downturned avoiding my eyes. "I'm not complaining, Lucy. I'm just saying you don't have to clean to pay for room and board." Moving to the seat next to her, I tilted her chin up until tear-filled eyes were looking directly at me. "I could never hate you, Lucy. Tell me."

You feel like you are being pulled in different directions with no way to escape. You know that nothing can be done about your broken soul, but you don’t want to lose the people you love by trying to escape it. The killings seem so personal that Lottie is convinced the girls have been killed by someone they knew. When she goes to break the news to Fiona’s family, she’s on the alert for anything suspicious. But then she makes a discovery that causes her blood to run cold; Fiona’s eight-year-old daughter Lily didn’t return home from her dance recital that afternoon. Terrified that Lily will be the next victim of a twisted and dangerous individual, Lottie takes the case into her own hands, risking her life when she comes face-to-face with the killer. Having a broken soul means you have lost the ability to feel. You are always numb and struggle with depression. You fight to get through each day, working very hard at being happy and finding the light again. But it doesn’t work… because your soul is broken.
