You can’t have a guy out of his mind in love, willing to do anything for the girl he is meant to be with, while also having his screw anything he can get his hands on. He takes the key and leaves the dad on the floor which is where we first see him make a calculated decision. Please remember that this is only my opinion, and seriously, there was enough goodness to keep it perfect for me anyway since I was completely immersed cover to cover. if he left to let her heal then after the time jump a real second chance book would’ve been to make him grovel for leaving her when she was most vulnerable and them actually building something together. You really feel like a part of this world, feel the pain of the characters and the bonds that have been made, and that is an absolute talent. I think if you are looking at this book from that teenage/young adult perspective, it is definitely easier to see how some of the actions taken by both characters could be tolerated. Jax is trying to play the savior to the one woman who holds his entire world in her hands, she just doesn’t realize it yet. Jax ran into that burning house without a second thought and saved that young woman life, little did he know the affect it would have on both of them.Jay’s family takes Aubrey in and this is where the most beautiful relationship I’ve ever read starts between Jax and Aubrey. I enjoyed this book, I read it over 2 days and did become a little obsessed but I just felt like something was missing… I can’t even put my finger on what. I understood him leaving because he didn’t want to continue enabling her, but what exactly was he enabling? Jax’s justification for going along with Franks schemes were always to protect her from this revelation and it never even mattered?

Fast forward a few years, and Jax is now a famous rockstar, and their paths cross again but Aubrey isn't that same shy timid girl and there is no way she is going to make things easy for him.While this book starts off with crucial background while the characters are in high school, like all Shain Rose romances, this is a slightly dark adult romance.

Ultimately this book defines almost, I almost enjoyed it, I almost was invested, almost but not quite. I have never read a book that has made me here a whole album to each and every emotion I felt while reading. Remember, the journey through a book series is not just about reaching the end but also about the memories created along the way.
