Sorry if this has been covered in previous threads. I did do a search and came up with only one similar question but it didn't particularly answer my concerns. The recently serviced Volvo Penta D6-370 diesels have covered just 374 hours use ( July 2022 ) and have the reassurance and economy of a shaft drive set up. So yes, very pleased so far. The boat fared very well in the comparison MBY (or was it MBM) did with other boats a similar size (it came out the winner!) and that was our impression from looking around. There don`t seem to be that many on the second hand market which probably means they`re sought after (ours was the 200th one built I think so there are a few of them out there). The Princess has a useful cold chiller on the flybridge helm that takes a couple of bottles of wine and a few beers. I can confirm it works very well indeed (tested under duress so you good people don`t have sit there and drink all day !). Sealine - prefered the contemporary design, happy with the interior finishes, liked the size of the second cabin, prefered the space on the flybridge and overall liked the spacious feel. Sometimes model names can be misleading as the badge doesn't correspond to the actual size - the princess is a bit bigger than the othersAutomatic electric bilge pumps (with manual override) in engine room, forward accommodation and aft lazarette (4 in all) I`d go along with that. The Fairline Phantom 40 flybridge seems to have a bit more going on up there than the Princess 42. The Fairline we looked at had a griddle and I think a fridge from memory. In the end we were more interested in the accommodation downstairs than the flybridge, (let`s face it our weather throughout the year does mean we spend more time inside). I was also a bit unsure of how fat spitting off the griddle would add to the mix. I'd buy what takes your fancy, certain boats suit certain people, from many angles wether you want glitz, value for money or look at it if you want to look after it yourself then thee are makes I wouldn't go anywhere near. There is also a handy table below that clearly shows the differences between all three Princess models. Full Review Here

The Princess 42 Li offers a wider cutting width for the larger lawn but is still lightweight thanks to it’s durable polypropylene chassis, making it easy to manoeuvre around any medium to large sized garden. A front comb eases grass up to be cut, the 42cm wide blades create a sharp, clean cut and the rear roller produces the perfect striped effect for your lawn. Much as all three are lovely boats, the sealine is technically complex and the jury is still out that IPS drives really save fuel, but the servicing is definitely expensive,so factor in any expected fuel saving against service cost and long term reliability. Unless you plan on doing thousands of miles it probably isn't worth it. No doubt the sales man explained how easy it is to park an IPS boat, its not difficult to park a shaft drive boat either - have some lessons and get some practice This particular example has had very light use with low hours and presented in wonderful condition. We have recently taken delivery of a new Princess 42 flybridge which I think I`m right in saying is the same (give or take) as a 2005 model. The spacious saloon features a u-shaped settee to starboard around saloon table and two-seater settee to port and storage cabinet. Twin fuel tanks (in NS8 marine grade alloy) with interconnection system giving 300 gallons / (1.362 litres) capacity Both cabins work well, the 2nd cabin can either be used as a twin or a double. Storage is good although we miss not having a pair of wardrobes in the front cabin. That said there is probably more storage than in the Phantom, just spread about a bit.
