Please use your car if possible to help with lifts for those who do not drive. Passengers are asked to make a contribution to the driver based on mileage. The route also visits the little village of Clive, birthplace of the English Restoration dramatist William Wycherley, author of 'The Country Wife'. It's nice to stroll around the village with its pretty cottages and Victorian church. Non-members are very welcome to join as guests for up to three walks to try us out. After that we ask that you join the Ramblers as a member. Members form other Ramblers groups and areas are very welcome too. The Bardon Geo Trail is waymarked with orange markers. It will take you to a viewpoint with wonderful views over the Shropshire countryside and the River Severn. This cycling and walking trail follows the route of the Old Shrewsbury Canal from the centre of Shrewsbury to Haughmond Hill at Uffington.
Visit Ludlow Castle, Whitcliffe Common and the River Teme on this walk around one of England's most attractive towns. To extend the walk simply continue north along the Severn Way. You'll soon come to Haughmond Hill where there's a number of woodland walking trails and a fine viewpoint over the town. The Monarch's Way starts at Worcester then travels north to Boscobel and then south to Stratford upon Avon. It then continues south through the Cotswolds to Stow on the Wold before turning south west towards Bristol via Cirencester. Also of interest is the Bishop's Castle Ring long distance footpath. It passes just to the west of the hill and will take you on a tour of the countryside and hills surrounding the Shropshire market town of Bishop's Castle. It also takes you through Beeston Castle, an impressive medieval castle located on a sandstone ridge. The walk is flat and well-marked, so you can explore at your own pace and take time to soak up the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere. The route then passes through Nantwich and Chester before finishing at Ellesmere Port where you join with the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey.

He went on to set up many ramblers groups in this region. The trail is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of town life and enjoy some peace and quiet.
