The banter he had with Philips was occasionally amusing but more often a bit overworked, and seem to fall flat. Yes, we get it, he is tall and handsome and upper class and white and privileged, but why does this need to be reiterated so many times? But things take a sinister turn when the entire village suffers severe poisoning, and one old man turns up dead.

Royal Mail 24™ – the aim is to deliver your parcels the next working day upon handover in the United Kingdom. This book goes for the most part to the standard no major overlap with another book from the series, but if you did not read the previous two, I do strongly suggest to have a go before going for this one, or you will know one of the murders in this one. One of the reasons why I have been invested in this series from the start and will carry on reading it is the two loveable crime fighting duo, Ryan and Frank.Lot of focus is on Melanie Yates, who is struggling with the events of the previous books and there is lot of her internal dilema in this book, but it does not overpower the main story. DCI Ryan’s North East Ever thought of retracing the footsteps of DCI Ryan and DS Phillips in the North East of England? Another thing I love is that this isn’t your stereo typical detective series, yes Ryan has his own demons to fight but both him and Frank are happily married which is something I don’t think I’ve rarely read in this genre and it really is a breath of fresh air. The Bookseller magazine has reported on Louise having topped the ‘Most Read’ and ‘Most Sold’ fiction charts, and she has garnered an army of loyal fans who love her atmospheric and addictive storytelling. This may be book twenty in the series but I am hoping there will be plenty more yet to come as they are highly entertaining reads with plenty of murder and mayhem with one of the best set of characters who by now feel like family.

So many phrases that just grated because yes, they do the job, but isn't there a fresher way to say them?

Lady’s Well is probably one of new favourites in the series with plenty of twists that had me hooked. Otherwise, the story is set in a small village and the start of the story is some 20 years ago with a murder of a young woman. To put it mildly, after reading what seemed to be several pages of self-justification and self-congratulation, I was pretty sure that the author must self-publish. Her eleventh novel, "The Infirmary", is a prequel story and is also available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris and Alun Armstrong.

However, the rest of it seemed lacking somehow – every other thread outside of the mystery was left hanging.I know the author had a number of issues to deal with while writing this book – illness among them – so I’m going to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume those loose ends are deliberate and will be wrapped up in the next book or two to be released. Dopo aver a lungo atteso quest'ultimo romanzo della serie, mi dispiace dire che sono veramente delusa. While the mystery was perplexing and well-delivered, the rest of the story was a series of loose ends with the major characters. There are many currents and undercurrents in this small village – there are those who practice the old religions and others who believe in the more recent religions. The Cove" (the first book in her new Summer Suspense Mysteries series) was released in 2021 and followed up by "The Creek" in 2022. It's a fair enough thing, and I get why someone might be insecure about it if people are being snobby, but this seemed overkill, and the entire scene seemed to be there to justify self-publishing, and then absolutely nothing happened about that whole storyline. With so many potential motives and countless opportunities, there's only one man who can help solve this particular mystery. The 20th in the sequence (I am a fan and have read them all) and if it was the premier league it’d be about 15th - safe from relegation but certainly no where near some if the excellent books in this series. He was belligerent, bellicose, and totally contrary, but did someone dislike him to the point they would want to kill him?
