Bumbu Original is distilled and matured for up to 15 years in American oak Bourbon barrels to give it that rich color and flavor and is bottled at 35% ABV.

An authentic Caribbean legend, Bumbu is masterfully blended by hand from island rums and native spices chosen from across the West Indies. Bumbu rum is produced in small batches and focuses on quality and authenticity rather than quantity. The brand has only three varieties: spiced rum, Bourbon barrel-aged dark rum, and a crème liqueur with a rum base. History Image: LCBO Media Centre / CenBumbu Rum is a spiced rum that is distilled on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean and is based on original recipes developed by traders in the 16th and 17th centuries who used to blend spices into their rum. Bumbu rum is made at the West Indies Rum Distillery, a historic distillery on the Caribbean island of Barbados. It was founded in 1893 and has continuously operated for more than 120 years. How is Bumbu Rum made? This exceptionally pure water, coupled with carefully selected sugarcane from across the Caribbean and South America, lends the lightness and smoothness that’s central to Bumbu’s remarkable drinkability. Our Original Bumbu is based on the original recipe created by 16th and 17th century sailors of the West Indies, who blended native Caribbean ingredients into their rum and called it “Bumbu” – truly the original craft spirit. Good old Aldi rules the roost in terms of value as you might expect – its own-brand Old Hopking range costs just 36p per measure. But if you thought opting for own-brand meant trading up on quality — think again. The Old Hopking Range won big at the recent Spirit Business Masters Awards, beating many of its more expensive rivals in this industry taste test.
