About this deal

Edit: Much nicer scent after the first hour when it melds with the skin and becomes less pronounced.

It becomes sweeter and sweeter and the amber shows an animalic side, which is not bad, but I don't find it very flattering, even though you can only feel the dirtiness only from close up.Overall I think lovers of classic fragrances like Chanel 5, Shalimar, even Bal à Versailles will find something to like about this. When the middle notes have gone, it lingers on my skin as a silky musk with amber undertones and a tiny hint of vanilla.

When some producer gets the bright idea to remake a golden age Hollywood classic, as painstaking as the set and costume design are, the faces of the actors can rarely, if ever, capture the sense of the zeitgeist. The initial blast of aldehydes dissipates after about 15 minutes, leaving an exquisite bouquet of flowers. An aldehydic opening leads you into a floral garden that does smell like something from the 80s- jasmine, ylang ylang, neroli, musk and rose. Well, the truth is out, and I think it has to do with its creamier, woodier heart that follows that radiant flash of aldehydes.Longevity and sillage are well above average and, with Arpège, she always outshines the other fragrances around her.

It was delivered to me all the way from Palm Beach Gardens by a mutual friend who likes vintage perfumes and got me hooked on them. My nose being used to perfumes with a lot more character, this one disappoints me a bit, but it has its place in my collection as a classic of this great house. However, I also have a vintage bottle of Lanvin eau Arpege and it is divine and transports you back in time to old Hollywood and all things beautiful and ladylike. Please note that this service might transfer the data outside of the EU/EEA and to a country without the required data protection standards. It’s not freshly picked though, some petals fall off and let through a soft sandalwood reminding me a bit of Samsara. beautiful, clean, refined, like walking into a ballroom and you are dressed more exquisitely than everyone else. A friend gave me a vintage bottle of Arpege, and I like it a lot, although I get why some might get an older-lady vibe from it (which is fine by me because older ladies are cool). Or maybe a cream from the 90s/00s, I vividly remember that smell but can't pinpoint it except I remember it being at my grandma's place and not in a bad way.
