As a result, the kilns at Balvenie now burn peat for one week a year at the end of the distilling season – hence, the week of peat. For one week each year, Speyside's Balvenie distillery mixes things up, switching from its usual unpeated style, to producing peated single malt with Speyside peat!

From the popular Speyside distillery, Balvenie, this 17 year old from the Stories Range, The Week Of Peat, references when Balvenie trialled drying barley with peat for the first time, during a week long gap in the distillery’s production schedule in 2002.The expression is an evolution of our previous The Week of Peat 14 Year Old, having been matured for an additional three years to further enhance the complexity of the flavour profile.
