About this deal

In the TV series Biscuits' mother is dead; his grandmother is his legal guardian and there seems to be no mention of a father or any siblings. She has written over 100 books and is the creator of characters such as Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather. They went to the same nursery school, and the same infant school, and now they're together in the juniors.

Each year they wish to be ‘best friends for ever and ever and ever’ and they appear to have an unbreakable bond. In Best Friends, Gemma and Alice have been together since birth - literally, they were born on the same day and have been inseparable ever since, despite being complete opposites (Gemma is loud, selfish, and bossy, while Alice is timid, meek, and sensible). But, as Gemma and Alice discover, even if they do make new friends, there's no need to forget everything that they've shared together in the past. This wasn't my favourite JW novel, however, I did appreciate the allusion to other books ( Tracy Beaker and Biscuits from Cliffhanger). Her insightful and emotionally challenging books not only stretch reading ability, but give young readers a glimpse into many kinds of lives. When Alice is gone, Gemma and Biscuits become closer as friends and work together for a project on famous TV chef "Fat Larry", as well as Biscuits making Gemma her special birthday cake at her party. It's not one I'll be passing down to my future child but there are more than enough others I've loved that make up for it.

She is tomboyish, active and messy, who enjoys football, bike riding and spending time with her Grandad.Gemma and Alice have known each other all their lives, but when Gemma reads Alice's diary at a sleepover, it eventually leads her to discover Alice is to England moving.

As Jacqueline's all other books, it didn't have the perfect ending of "lived happily ever after," yet it was such a happy one!The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products.

I think that the author wrote this book to show that anyone can get over things that could be major or minor. Nothing can ever break them apart, but when Gemma sneaks a peek in Alice's Diary their friendship may be crushed. When the cake Gemma has made and brought is presented at dinner, Alice requests that she and Gemma cut the cake together and make their traditional wish. Gemma is intimidated by Flora's friendship with Alice and approval from Alice's mother (including when Flora lies about Alice saying Gemma's family are "quite poor" regarding how a china doll came to fruition - Gemma's late grandmother left the doll to her, which she later gave Alice). Gemma and Alice are both devastated at the thought of being separated, but Alice's snobbish mother claims that Alice will make new friends when they move. Eleven-year-old girls Gemma Jackson and Alice Barlow have been best friends from birth, ever since they were born on the same day and in the same hospital. Jacqueline Wilson is the author of almost one hundred books, including Candyfloss , available in paperback from Square Fish.
